It really depends on the age group you're looking at. I can think of several picture books offhand...such as Wemberley Worried by Kevin Henkes...and there is a great title called THE LIBERATION OF GABRIEL KING by K.L. Going that is great for 4th grade and up...although high schoolers might consider it too "juvenile" I'm not sure. Anyway, it is about a boy whose bestfriend makes him write a list of everything that he's scared of. The friend (a girl) makes him her summer project. Each day they look at the list, choose something scary to do, and try to overcome the fear. Anyway, it's a great book. And a YA book...this time one I haven't read but plan on reading soon...is a poetry nonfiction book called I DON'T WANT TO BE CRAZY about a college student's experience with social anxiety disorder.

According to the Torah--the Koran and the Bible--three powerful teaching tools, "fear" is a spirit. By asking for books that teach about overcoming fear, schools must be ready to accept that spiritual matters require spiritual methods of eradication. By attacking the spiritual symptoms, you dig out the root. If you want a book that gets to the root of spiritual energies on earth, tracks them and labels them, I will recommend "The Golden Fleece Found" by Basil C. Hill. It is an unbiased and very comprehensive knowledge source. If your teacher is male and understands esoteric matters--you will definitely get brownie points for your choice. Check online major bookstores.
The secular world has been using all types of psychological approaches and those temporary Band-Aids only last for a while.

Brick Lane by Monica Ali, a young British writer. It's about a young Bangladeshi woman who comes to the UK in an arranged marriage, with no sense of herself or what she has the right to expect from life, then slowly, over the course of the book, she gains a sense of self and even a sense of bravery and willing to fight what life throws at her. It's beautifully written and hard to put down. I hope you try it out.
