Having a mentally unstable landlady is not worth the stress. You need to be secure about your living situation. Stay with a friend or family while you save up for a deposit on a new place.

normally I would try to side with the asker and try to tell you good things about the situation. But unfortunetly if you paid for a security deposit (hopefully a full month rent) you give your notice and forfiet your deposit and not pay your rent, pick a better landlord and maybe try to do shared accomodations (where you rent a room)until you find something better. Your landlord isn't going to get better becuase she is mentally unstable.

Try to save some money and find another place. Your home should be a place to relax and kick back, not worry about some weird landlady. Get a roommate or something.

On a month to month basis you are at the mercy of the landlord. If she really wants to evict you all she has to do is not renew your lease the next month.
If I were you I'd comply with her requests, at least until such time that you can afford to move.

If your rent is good - you may need to contact a mediation forum or someone who can intervene in this case.
Call the health department to report the paint cans next to the furnace. I hope you didn't put them there to take advantage of her.

You have at least 2 months to leave without a written lease. Find somewhere else where you can be happier. 2 months is enough time to look for an apartment. Good luck.

Get in touch with your state's ATTORNEY GENERAL!!
They will be able tohelp you---also take some picture and document all violations that she says your doing--and for your sakealso take pictures of what wrong things she is doing. A picture is worth a thousand words. And keep all letters and get all complaints against you in writing! Best of luck--and remember you do have recourse against landlords!
LANDLORDS ARE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH!!!

Give her 30 days notice and move. If you are month to month, she doesn't need to evict you, just give you 30 days notice of non-renewal and out you go. No reason necessary.

Call your local landlord/tenant relations agency, they can offer you assistance. In the mean time I would move those paint cans.
