Star Wars by far. It was a universe introduced by 3 movies, and it grew out of control from there. There are so many nooks and crannies involved in the Star Wars universe, it's unbelievable.

However...the Harry Potter books are by far the best fantasy books I've ever read. LOTR is very good, but it is dark, fairly slow-paced, and the characters aren't as connectable as those in HP. The movies are very good, but there was so much left out of them that it is still disappointing.

LOTR movies are better than the HP movies though. They are a grand spectacle to see, whereas HP are more like watching a story.

I am a big sci/fi-fantasy fan, and am quite an avid reader of Star Wars and LOTR. HP does not compare to either of the first two. One Star Wars and LOTR provide an epic history spanning thousands of years. HP covers what....20 years+ maybe. So lets rule out HP right now.

Between Star Wars and LOTR. Its a hard choice, but I do like LOTR much more, it is a cornerstone of modern fantasy. The world (even though it is just one , compared to a galaxy) is richy detailed in its history and it is interesting to watch what has unfolded from Valinor all the way to the end. Star Wars has too many worlds to do any sort of detailed history justice. True LOTR may be somewhat slowly paced..but so is human history. The original three Star Wars movies were great...the last three (most recently) were not of any redeemable value to me as they really didn't do justice to the Star Wars Galaxy. The LOTR movies on the other had, were close to what I saw in my mind as I read the books.

SO..sorry about the long winded answer...LOTR is my choice.

Like the subject matter or not LotR was a masterpiece of story written by Tolkien and a masterpiece of moviemaking by Jackson. Star Wars was a phenom in its time, but Lucas destroyed his franchise with the last 3 movies (arguably the last 4, the ewoks were stupid) and made the entire series little more than a joke. The Potter movies are good, but the stories are amateurish at best, not even close to the mastery of LotR in the fantasy genre. So It's not really fair to compare the other two with Potter, which are good movies but not even in the same ballpark of the other two when speaking of epics. LotR was truly an epic tale and an enormous achievement in filmmaking, it beats the other two. And it has like 18 Academy Awards.

LOTR was seriously great, awesome and awesome to watch, however STAR WARS is the greatest and takes over all. It has been the begining of all movies. Talk about a creative mind. The whole entire story was awesome. I love the moral of the story too. LOTR was more for entertainment.

Harry potter is stupid shouldn't even be in this great category.

Harry Potter! Star Wars was booooorrrring, LOTR was too odd and too long for my taste, but I thought HP was cute and entertaining.
