Get a bunch of paper towels and your iron.

Put the iron on the highest setting that won't melt your carpert. Put the paper towels on top of the wax and place the iron on top. Change out the towels frequently.

first freeze it - fill a ziplock baggie with ice and lay it on top of the wax and leave it there for a while. This gets it really hard so it doesn't smear or run into the carpet more. Now pull/break/cut/scrape off as much of the wax as you can. Keep re-freezing it if it gets soft. (For fabric, actually put the item in the freezer for a few hours.) Once you have all the wax you can get off the surface, you want to melt it and soak it up with paper towels or newspaper. Lay some folded paper towels or other clean absorbent paper over the wax and blot it with a hot iron, each time replacing with clean paper. Keep doing that till no more wax comes up. If the carpet is nylon, test how hot you can get it before the carpet melts along with the wax! Finally, clean with soap to get the rest of the wax out.

I have spilled so many candles! Take a brown paper bag, lie it over the wax, take a warm iron and place it on top of the bag, the wax will melt and absorb into the paper bag. You will have to move the bag around to "fresh" spots, because once a spot absorbs too much of the wax, it doesn't work as well. I've had problems with the color staining the carpet, some candle colors have come up no problem, some have stained, but the wax and brown paper bag trick works even on walls!

Lay newspaper preferably a brown paper bag over the wax. Then use your iron to melt the wax. The paper soaks up the wax... if a colored stained is left behind using a vinegar and water solution should remove it. It also depends on how long the stain was there for however.

I would first try ice. That will help on the wax chunks. After that you could use a hair dryer to melt what is left and brush with a stiff brush. Of course a professional might have another method. Good luck.

take an old towel, place it over the wax, and with an iron set on the highest without steam setting, gently "iron" over the wax. it may take a few minutes. for the harder wax, just set your iron on top of it for 2 or 3 minutes.
