yes; a stingray's stinger can grow back if broken; similar to human fingernails

yes as a matter of fact duing the life cycle of a sting ray as it grows it reppels the old barb with a new one it is actually pretty cool to look at ... a new barb forms below the old one forcing the old one off.

They do not lose their barb. They are more like wasps than bees. The sting ray barb enters your body, then comes back out again. They keep their barb unless it breaks off, then they do not regrow it.
