Your voice is fine and you have a generic accent which is good - i understand the subject matter you were reading from was not exciting but still you could probably improve more on your intonation trying to sound more expressive.
I'm sure you've heard Dr. Ruth well her accent is awful but everyone is interested in her (not just for her content) because of her lively and expressive way she talks.
Don't worry about how the tone comes out - you are articulate just work at your delivery

I do not need to listen to this recording to know you sound just fine. None of us sounds as we think we do..the first time I heard my voice in recording, I think I was in my 20's...I was appalled and swore I would never speak again. But of course, I did, and do. And it has not changed one iota since...when I hear my voice, I really do not like it...but it serves me well, people listen to me, know my voice instantly, and that doesn't hurt anything. In fact, I learned that it was very, very useful...that my personality translates through my voice, and people like it, regardless of what it sounds like. When I hear my brother speak (he and I have the same voice), I don't think he sounds odd at all. .so take heed...YOU need to work on your brain, not your voice. That you let a silly statement of a bratty little kid effect your life so strongly says more about you than you think. I strongly suggest having a serious talk with yourself, put on a coating of self esteem and going forth with your dreams...you will be a GREAT teacher...you care! I strongly suggest taking all the speech coarses you can to overcome this silly phobia you have developed. You have much to say, so say it. Say it loud and clear. IF you find that you have speech pattern problems, then work on them..but put down the issues you have developed about your speech...not very bright of a very bright person, don't you agree? WE all have our crosses to bear, I certainly do, and would not be who I am today without them. Go for it, and the best of luck and love to you.

I'd say the kid was just that...bratty. Personally, I think your voice carries well and your delivery was perfect. The best of luck in your endeavors to be a college professor.

I heard it and listened very closely.
Does the frenum under your tongue extend all the way out near the tip? (That little fleshy connector holding the tongue to the floor of the jaw)
If it is, Then you have the same thing I did...which restricts tongue movement, causing a softening of certain consonant and vowel combinations.
You should consider very simple outpatient oral surgery to remove this slight, but annoying impediment to your speech.
It worked for me very nicely!
---If that's not the case, well, you DO sound perfectly acceptable!...Just fine! What I heard was because I was listening for it...No one else will...so you're set!

Their is no problem with your voice. However, you may have to work on your self-confidence. I worked at a college and the professors were, by and large, arrogent.

i'm not listening to your clip. that's pathetic. unless its a joke then its funny. You are basing your carreer on "some bratty little kid"'s opinion of your voice. when you were a kid. wow, you kinda suck. unless its a joke then you are funny.
