There are no ghosts.

No. Since the beginning of the Universe not one supernatural incident has ever been proven. The existence of ghosts is far too major to consider right now. We would probably have to start by proving that someone can put out a match with his mind or roll a ball one millimeter with his mind before we can ever consider the existence of a stronger supernatural force such as a ghost.

If it is a scientific proof, then it will eventually be accepted by science - though, it would have to be fairly comprehensive for the amount of science it would overturn in the case of ghosts being real.

What science can explain is why people are spooked by certain locations - research in this area is ongoing. We know that brains are tuned to pattern recognition, especially of faces, so we "see" faces where there aren't any (cue Elvis/JFK/Mary/Jesus/Chuck Norris turning up in toast/windows/marble floors/buns, etc.). Low frequency sounds are known to make people uncomfortable, and many ghosts are said to "moan". Draughts can cause coldness (another sign of ghosts), plus the moaning sounds. A poorly-lit room provides ample shadows for our imagination to wander into, and is again likely to be colder on average.

If you're referring to the ghost specials on Living or FTN, well, they're fake.

They're not ghosts, they're cybermen!

(sorry, been watching too much Doctor Who)

The problem is in deciding what would constitute proof. That's very difficult, because the sceptics keep making tougher and tougher criteria the more evidence that is gathered.

I don't doubt their existence, from my own experience as a reluctant medium.

I doubt science will ever prove it either way, but while mankind likes to worry or wonder about what happens after death, or what is lurking in the shadows of creaky old houses, churchyards and abandoned buildings, I think we'll always keep hedging our bets.

Also, think how dull the world would be without a good ol' ghost story or two... that's a scarier prospect than anything else if you ask me!

What a good question! I don't know whether to believe in ghosts or not. I keep hearing of different people's experiences but I'm still sceptical. I think I will need to experience something myself to really believe in them and I'm sure that's how a lot of people feel.

Ghosts are in the person‘s imagination. Normally they
are seen by those who are influenced by some drug
like LSD (lethargic acid) or methadone. It is not worth
your while attempting a trial because the experience
will influence your normal sane mind. Ghosts do not
exist. Religious fanatics also have extrasensory visions
and it is better not to argue this phenomena since you
will be eliminating this person‘s lifeline; they cannot
survive without it as they have a lifetime of belief and
do no harm. ESP (extra sensory perception) can also
induce people to see, write and even try the impossible.
Stay normal, my friend, since life has a span and it is
your duty to live and fully enjoy yourself. I wish you well.

"Ghosts" will never be proven to exist in the way that those who believe in ghosts would wish them to be. Ghosts cannot exist within our universe as they do not follow the rules that govern it ... ghosts do not exist for the same reason the Pegasus does not exist - the attributes they are accredited see them existing outside the rules of any possible inhabitant given the constraints of our physical universe.

The perception of ghosts however can be studied and accredited to certain conditions that affect the mind and body that could alter our perception of the world and make us see and hear things we have only really experienced within our mind.

Doubtful, it will never be proven coz there are too many sceptics, as well as too many scaredy-cats that freak out at the slightest creak and say it's a ghost.

It will never be proven because people either don't belileve in them at all, believe EVERYTHING is a ghost or believe that people should just get on with it!!

The existence of Christ has been proved beyond reasonable doubt, yet there are still many who refuse to accept that he ever existed.

Whether or not Christ is God is a different matter. If people can't even accept that Christ existed, we can't get to that question.

So, as for ghosts, I'd say that question will remain unproved in the minds of many.

I do not need proof - and I am never spooked by them - some are so much more pleasant than the flesh-clothed, I am wondering if the primary questioner is confusing Ghosts with Demons - now THEY can be spooky.
