No it's not just you.
World peace is an impossibility, unless one particular group or nation destroy everyone else.
It's inherent to human nature to be violent and inward looking,
we're all just Monkeys under the surface.
We've never evolved much beyond that yet.In our own way we're still all sat up trees, scratching our arses and sniffing our fingers afterwards.

In the USA i believe that a Hog Wash is a facility to wash your Harley-Davidson (usually by Bikini Clad girls). Other than that it is v difficult to wash a fully grown pig (hog) as they try and lounge around in the mud all day. I guess thats the answer though about world peace, too much muddyness to get through.

I think the whole idea of hogwashing has almost always been the major impediment to World Peace. Following in a close second place would be stonethrowing...which is the predominant choice among Middle-East factions.

Although most armed forces believe that they are fighting to help achieve peace and justice, the families of those who have died in conflicts would be the best ones to comment. World leaders know very little about peace or how to achieve it, they are motivated primarily by greed and selfishness and their lifestyles are not even touched by conflict, starvation, displacement etc.

The hope is that human beings can accomplish anything they set their minds to. In that frame of mind, world peace would be possible if enough people want it & are willing to sacrifice in order to make it happen.

Unfortunately, there are too many people who, for reasons of greed, ideology, etc., want war. They are the ones we should be struggling against (and I'm not just talking about religious extremists/terrorists here.)

You must be too young to remember the Cold War.

THIS is the most peaceful time in history.

The superpowers of today are not at war, nor is it likely that war is imminent.

What little conflict we see on TV is relatively confined to remote backwaters. Millions may die, but BILLIONS live in relative peace.

The world is much better off now than it was under the threat of total nuclear war/anhilation.

I doubt there will ever be peace in the middle-east. A secure state of Palestine is only possible if Israel is also secure. The Moslems don't want Israel to exist so they must keep the war going. Islam is Palestine's biggest problem.

there must always be hope for world peace, however you are probably right. in my opinion there is far too much religion in the world for there to be peace. whenever there are religious clashes there will be wars. history itself teaches us just that. but theres nothing wrong with a little hope is there?
