Was it a good idea for Victor Frankenstein to have built the "creation" a female partner?

I think you're asking if two wrongs would have made a right. Frankenstein made an unethical and immoral decision to create the monster in the first place. It was against nature. In other words it violated science and nature...and caused a whole lot of problems. Frankenstein was obsessed and selfish and not really having a good grasp of reality in the first place. So whether the monster was 'evil' or 'cursed' from the beginning or whether it was lack of nurture and acceptance by the part of society and particularly his creator...it really can't be determined. You could reasonably argue either case. I think in some ways the monster knew that he was a mistake...that he was a freak...that he was "wrong." And he wrestled with that. He struggled with himself in regards to who he was and what to do. It seemed that no matter what he did or where he went he would never find peace...the discontent...the anger would always be there...it indwellt him. He couldn't run away from himself...from his reality.

Would having a mate have helped him??? Who knows. I think Frankenstein made a selfish decision in agreeing to make the monster a mate...and then ultimately destoying it or never finishing it...whatever the case was. I clearly remember he said he would do it...and then I believe the monster said that if he didn't do it he would kill Frankenstein's wife/girlfriend...love interest whatever. There is absolutely no way to know IF the second monster would have accepted or loved or wanted the first monster. She could have rejected him and then there would have been two angry monsters on the loose wreaking havoc and destroying villages. Or they could lived happily ever after and never bothered humanity again....regardless...of which scenario you think would be more likely...there is no way of knowing. As far as ethics are concerned. Does the monster have an inherit right to have a mate...to have another in his image or likeness...the right to "marry" if you will...??? And going back to Frankenstein...if it was unethical the first time...it certainly would have been unethical the second.

Of course it wasn't, and that's the point. The creature itself was a bad idea. The point is not just about bringing dead flesh to life, but in creating a creature than would destroy and replace the human species. Compare the myth of Prometheus with which Mary Shelly subtitles her work. She had in mind not only the Doctor's unending torment, but the creature's purpose.

No. My opinion is that no matter what Victor Frankenstein would have done it would not have pleased the creature.

I thought he created the female in order to bring his love back to life? Like it was his own selfish foolishness that he thought reanimating her he would end up with the same old girl rather than something different.

The "monster" himself did deserve a loved one, seeing as how his own "father" could not love him, perhaps another of his kind could.

Why certainly - even monsters need love, you know - and get lonely.
By the way, congrats on not confusing the maker with the monster - so many do.

Well, maybe if Viktor had made His Monster alittle better looking, he would have been happier

No. No man or lady should have a mate until they know how to properly treat them.
