Where are my kidneys exactly? I mean if I'm having mid back pain should I assume it's my kidneys or not?

kidneys are located in mid upper back just below your abdomen...

things that would indicate problems with your kidneys are most commonly associated with kidney infections that stem from a uti that spreads. these symptoms are:

-constant mid back pain (can be a dull aching pain or severe stabbing pain)
-burning with urination
-blood in urine (usually, if your kidneys are infected your urine with be bright red-looks like just blood coming out)
-fever of 101.0 or higher

more than likely you just have some tensed muscles that are causing your back pain.

take ibuprofen to help with pain. take 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.

you can also try using a heating pad for 20-30 minutes at a time-this will help relax the muscles and relieve the pain....

I believe your kidneys are located on the left and right of your back. Do you have pain when you use the bathroom? That might indicate a kidney problem. It may just be a mussel pull

I think your kidneys are located lower than your mid back! What kind of pain does it feel like? muscle? aching? shooting? How long has it been hurting? Honestly, it may be your mattress! You probably need to have it checked out by your doc to know for sure, though. Good Luck!

your kidneys are located near your lower back area. back pain can be many things.. you should not assume anything.. see a doctor.

I'm wondering if you are getting pneumonia. Is it a constant pain in the middle of your upper back (between your shoulder blades)? Is it getting worse? You might want to consider seeing your physician.
