because the 19th century is long passed. Sorry, that your professional competition now includes us. Speaking of which, according to the US Census Bureau, more women in the US graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, or a Masters than men. Now we just gotta catch up with the Doctorates.
Oh yeah, and you can wash your socks, or do you need your mommy to push a button on the wash machine for you? Your mind is capable of pushing a button right?
(oh and my appologies to guys out there who aren't chauvinist pigs, you guys are part of the reason we were able to make such accomplishments)

Women are allowed in the work place is because men can not even do anything there either!! They do not do anything at home now they are not even worth working... women do house work and also now they have to earn as well!!!
So men are good for nothing...... worthless.......... as for your socks.. you can wear them till they rip since you can not even clean them!!

Because most men are either lazy or too incompetent to do the job right!!!! So we women as usual enter the work place to do the work you can't or won't, We earn the paycheck and take care of ourselves so we don't have to depend on you!!! As for who will clean your socks? Try walking to the washing machine and doing them yourself, you wore them....CLEAN THEM!!!!!

Well, the global culture is allowing women more and more rights and equality as human beings. I guess you have to clean your own socks now.

They can still clean your socks because they are good at multi- tasking. Oh and they know everything so you dont need a encyclopedia,beats getting a dog or cat

well times has changed but if you prefer a woman in the house, I'm almost positive there are some woman who would rather be at home. i would. but now a days, we woman have to help the husbands also the price of living is always going up.

Basically because we have to be. Men aren't taking responsibility for them anymore, so we have to eat somehow. Some of us would actually prefer to be housewives and mothers, if it was possible~
