First let me say this is a touchy subject, firefighters dont like to think of the people who have died, not because we did not love them but because it reminds us it could be us next.
Second, to the person that answered "its not a fair fight they have special equipment" I ask that you have some respect for firefighters if you dont know, ask, but DO NOT make light of what we do.
I am attaching a list of fallen firefighters since 1981 and I ask that after you read this you take a moment of silenc eand thank them for what they did. Note that New York shows 646 Lost FF's, out of which 343 died in 9-11

This list shows the total number of firefighters from each state, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico who have died in the line of duty from 1981-2005.

I'm pretty sure that if you're caught drunk driving where I live you lose your license and spend at least a night in jail. Then it is more jail for any other DUIs. I think fees should be included, but the jail & losing the license is also good. Also, a place selling alcohol has no idea how much a person can drink and keep driving. If a woman had like 3 drinks in an hour she might be too intoxicated to drive. So they can't let a woman buy more than a single drink? Thats pretty much impossible since the smallest things sold are six packs.. Some kid here got the idea that they shouldn't sell cold beer. I suppose it is a good idea, but honestly, if someone is that desperate to drink as soon as they buy it A) they're an idiot and B) they'll just buy some hard alcohol and swig it or put it on ice.

RE:
How many firefighters die in an actual fire every year?

on average, it's roughly 3. very few firefighters die from the fire itself, they die from collapsing buildings whose foundations were made weak by the fire and other such incidences.
