I complained about that too, when i first started asking questions i got a bit upset at some of the cruel people but you just have to ignore the sad people who have nothing better to do and just listen to the nice people, there are plenty out there......Good luck

The best way to raise any child is by being consistent. They are looking for your leadership and guidance all the time - the first time you don't do it - they remember! Discipline them with a warning and a "if not, then this" threat. Create a place in your home that you call the "bad behavior" corner/spot - whatever. When they act up - warn them you will put them there for x many minutes. When they test you, say nothing, take them to the area, get down on there level (face to face) and calmly tell them why they are in the spot. Keep putting them back if they get up until they fulfill the minutes requirement. When they complete their "time", ask them for an apology and forget it happened. BE CONSISTENT though! If you show weaknesses they will see it in a second and revisit bad behavoir. Children want boundaries and need consequences. They will thank you for it. It makes them feel safe.
The potty thing needs to be a fun thing to do with a reward when it is done correctly. Make a game out of it... make it fun and exciting - when they do the deed, praise them with an exciting voice and big smile and reward this behavior with a special video tape or a special something the child loves to do - like fingerpainting (I don't recommend candy, etc - that develops bad eating habits). Rewarding children is a great way to change behavior - but again - you must always be consistent!
I hope this helps - I went back and read some of your other questions to try and help.
PS If you speak calmly - no yelling - they will hear you. It also gives them a sense that you are in control of the situation. If you are in control then they realize that they are not and you have won the battle! Take a moment and breath before yelling - you can change your behavior also with a thought before you start screaming!
PSS Their behavior will get worse before better when you start trying these things - but keep it up and before a week passes you will be in the driver seat again.
Best Wishes - and hang in there mom!

I was reading over your questions and answers. Yes, there are all kinds of people here. Only can take the advice with a grain of salt. Some people have a great solution, and others are just having fun. Raising children is the toughest job anyone can have. But by yelling, they will become immune to that and not listen at all. Try using a time-out. One minute per year of age. Have to be persistent too. We all want to be the perfect parents, although, all children are different. As for fighting, I have a 8 year old and 13 year old and they fight all the time. They like to provoke each other. I wish I had better answers for you. Best of luck with your kids.

Hey Sweetheart, lots of people do care. I've had a look at the questions you asked and although there were a few horrible responses I think that on the whole people were kind and thoughtful. I think your situation right now is making you see things differently to how they really are.
First lesson: All sorts of people are on here answering questions - all ages and all sort of experience. If you ask a question you have to expect a certain amount of nastiness. Sad but true. I am one of the people who sometimes sends flippant responses and I try not to hurt people's feelings but I expect it happens. I do it because it helps me to deal with getting angry about some of the very stupid and nasty questions that get asked.
Second lesson: I believe you said you are suffering from post-natal depression. This is affecting how you see everything and is making you feel got at by life (and got at by everyone else). Take my word for it, you need to get some proper help - please don't rely on Yahoo Answers - it is only making you feel worse. If you can't get professional advice then ring a help line. You need to talk about how you're feeling. The Samaritans are very good and will be very kind and sympathetic and I think you need some TLC right now. You don't have to be suicidal to speak to them and they'll give you their undivided attention.
Good Luck

Because this is not really the place if you have a serious question. I on the other hand if I feel like you really need a serious answer, I will give you one because I try to help but there are some people that think that everything is for fun and they treat it like that. So sometimes put a disclaimer that you only want serious real answers and then maybe you will get the responses that you want. But be warn some of the crazies will still answer anyway.

Hi, I just read your other questions and the answers that you received...they don't seem all that bad. I couldn't find any that I thought were horrifically evil. In fact, for yahoo users they are downright tame. I think you might have taken some to heart.
Please understand that it is an open forum, people are allowed to write what they want and some people are just rude, crude and obnoxious. But I do think that you might have over reacted to the answers just a little to the not-so-nice ones. Don't forget that a lot of people did give good advice as well.
Good luck, and don't give up on everyone on here. Some of us truly do wish to help.

Some people thrive on being miserable,at times others just give a silly answer as a quip, not thinking that someone genuinely would like some help, another problem we have on this site is no age or gender verification,so really a lot of the time we can just get kids 13,14 year old on here messing about, others are just plain ignorant or insensitive to other peoples feelings.
But don't give up,there are many very wise people on here who give great answers !

Unfortunately, some people don't see this website as a place to help others, but to act stupid. I hope you get the help you need with your 3 year old. Have you tried reading articles on the web like babycenter.com or ivillage.com? They seem to have pretty good articles. I have no children (yet), so my only advice would be to pray.

I just read your kids fightin question and I think you got lots of good advice. Sounds like you really need reassurance that your not a bad mum and you probably are a great mum but you sound frazzled. Honest, those answers were mostly good and if you thought that was people bein horrid you really need to read them again but this time without prejudice!
I bet you need a break hon!

to be honest there were a lot of good answers on there as well. you have to accept on an open forum you'll get people who either you don't agree with, just want to be funny or are just idiots.
the really abusive or nasty answers you can report the user and more people should so they'd get bored and go away. unfortunately it's too easy to just get another account and carry on being abusive.
