If someone has time travelled, then they would have already gone back in time and accidentally altered the timeline whether they meant it or not. Discuss!

Time travel is not something that can be invented. The ability to be able to travel in time either exists or doesn't.
In theory, time travel is completely possible. We don't however have the technology to be able to do it.
It is said that future advances in science and technology will enable us to realise time travel. The big problem with this is that surely somebody in the future would have popped back to see us in 2006 and let us know. But they haven't.
As for your question about what has changed without our knowledge. How would we be able to answer that if it were done without us knowing?

This is from the article on science fiction, so... I'll let you draw your conclusion:

A prototype of the time travel story is Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol (1843). The story features the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who is magically able to immerse the hapless Scrooge in the dire consequences of his own ungenerous actions. But for all their familiarity, Scrooge's time travels were mere ghostly dreammongering. The SF version of time travel arrived when H.G. Wells suggested in The Time Machine (1895) that the process might be done mechanically.

I don't think theres such thing as time travel but technically you can see what heppened in the past right now!
If you look at the sun or any other stars in the sky you are looking at what happened to that star several minutes, days, months or even years away depending on how far away the star is. For instance....light from the sun takes 7 mins to reach the earth. So if you look at the sun you are seeing what was going on at the suns surface seven mins ago. Likewise with stars that are light years away...they could explode and we wouldnt know a thing untill the light from that star reaches the earth.

Of course we couldn't know. But would it matter as we couldn't do anything about it, and don't even know if we'd want to as, unlikely as it sounds, the time traveller might actually have improved things for us. At least we survived his interference.

We also don't know that time isn't really flowing backwards in a collapsing universe.

It's also possible it is all a dream, and whoever is dreaming us might wake up.

It's also possible that there is nothing there at all, and all my senses are being fed into me by some devil.

Or that there is stuff ot there, but our brains are only able to perceive an infinitesimal part of it.

All sorts of things might be really going on which we wouldn't know about, but we just have to get on with it as it is making the best judgements we can in the circumstances.

There are an infinite amount of variables that could/could have been changed in history, like what if the weather hadn't been so horrible the day the Spanish Armada attacked the English?

Basically it would be interesting to be the time traveler, but the rest of us will never know the difference.

Time travel would have to be expensive, or everyone would have the same idiot idea to go back in time and win the lottery. Since the only reporting on noted time travellers I've seen has been in that fine reliable journal the Weekly World News, I'd have to say no, it hasn't happened.

That was an awsome question!! Even though this is not an answer I just want to let you know that I appreciate the thought put into your queston. Chances are if time travel has or will be invented in the future we will never know about it.

Time travel can't have been invented yet. There would have to be a portal for people from the future to travel back to. As of yet there is no portal, so no time travel.

If someone invented one today they couldn't go back 100s of years because it wouldn't have been invented then, therefore no portal, nowhere to go.

i think you ppl are forgeting time is relitive to speed, so if we travled just before the speed off light we would think that were just at the same speed, talkin normal etc, but everything we left behind will be happinin much slower, now theoreticly if we moved past the speed off light we would head back in time but due to e=mc squared no matter can, beacuse the closer we get to the speed off light the heavyer we are and we would weigh an infante amount if we reached that speed and no amount of energy could move us. so unless some brain box manages to turn matter into weightless energy its inpossible so i dont think any1 has changed the past with out or knolage!!
