Honestly - it seems like it would be a ok mix if you are just starting out. Personally though - you are not going to put a hermit crab in a water tank are you? That might be a bit cruel.
Goldfish are hit and miss - they are dirty for the most part, and can carry a lot of different disease (Ich, Velvet, etc...).
Personally if I ever go away from keeping natives - I will probably go with either some sort of Barb/Tetra/Danio mix with a live plant setup.

Interesting! I know it takes work to set up and maintain an aquarium, but lots of people enjoy it.
I'm sure the pet shop could get you started. It's time and work (and money), but be good to the little critters and it can be a great hobby!

Don't know much about hermit crabs, other than they're not fish, LOL, but goldfish are good pets. Make sure you have a filter though, cause they're dirty as far as fish go.

I like the fancy gold fish for it's colors and the crab because not a lot of people have it and the other. . . . he looks a little creepy. If you buy him name him chucky! :)

there very ugly but make wonderful bait to catch bass and jack fish,although slightly illegal
