I vote democrat because they seem to favor the poor and middle class, they lift from the bottom. I do not vote repuglican because they help the rich and the large corporations, they try to lift from the top but when you do that it leaves everybody behind. I do not see a repuglican candidate that doesn't have this philosophy so it is Democrat for me.

You sound like an independent like me. The problem is unless the democrat is a Joe Lieberman or Zel Miller type of democrat you can't find one that is the best man for the job. The Democrats have moved way to far to the left, so far that they act and sound like raving lunatics instead of politicains and leaders in this country. I want to vote for someone other than some of the democrats I have voted for in the past couple of elections, but the democrats have become so evil, hateful, and complain about everything and give no alternatives that I can't vote for them. It is sickening what has happened to that party and I hope for there sake they see the error of there ways before there party is considered a 3rd party and another party like libertarians or the green party moves into there position. For those of you that say democrats are for the poor and middle class and republicans are for the rich you have a lot to learn. They are both for whoever puts more money in there pocket wouldn't you be? and that is the rich. As individuals they all want to see everyone do better regardless of class.

Both parties are flip sides of the same coin. They are both so deep into corporate pockets that neither could begin to tell what colour the sky is. Both are well known for lies and for liars. And they should both be rejected for failing to adequately serve the best interests of the US. The two party system is just another version of the shell game, where no matter what shell you pick, you lose! We need a multi-party system that represents all of the people, and NOT just the rich.

Yes it matters.
The two parties that actually run the country represent different values, demographics, goals.
The Republicans rule for the rich, believe in making the country better by making the rich richer (it will all trickle down to the poor). They tend to kick *** and "let history be the judge".
Democrats rule for the rich too but believe they have a social responcibility to the "less fortunate". They also embrace the enviornemtal issues, middle class and poor social issues and seem to care about getting along with the rest of the world.

I used to vote the person, not the party, but until the GOP frees itself from the Neocon death grip, I'll be voting Democrat in every single race -- from dogcatcher all the way up to President.

Agreed. I'll vote for the best man (or woman) for the job, regardless of political affiliation.
It's just like I did in the last election. The one before that, I didn't vote because I didn't know enough about the candidates.
If it was between Rudy and Hillary though, I'd be voting for Rudy, not because he's a Republican, but because the thought of Hillary becoming president scares me.

There is really no good politician. They have to be viewed as least objectionable. I find those who want me to keep my right to own guns least objectionable. When the Republican party no longer supports that I will look at the next most likely to beat the Democrats.

Amen... It's why I'm now independant.
Extremists in the parties have made it so that they always think they're right and their policies are always 100% true. It's ridiculous. I'm used to having horrible presidents and idiotic, corrupt, greedy parties.
I guess all we can do is choose from the lesser of 2 evils and hope it works.
