Nothing. He raised taxes and took money out of the economy. Because of his socialist policies he kept us in depression for 8 YEARS (1933-1941).

The only reason people think he was a good president is because of revisionist history. If any Republican had kept us in depression for 8 years he would be considered the worst president ever. Amazing how history views presidents based on whether they have a R or D by their name.

Before war broke out, he created WPA, Public Works, and CCC, Civilian Conservation Corp.

WPA were public work jobs, paving streets with used bricks. They had to be cleaned of all mortar and then set. Pay was $1.00 -2.00 per day.

CCC were camps for young men who cleared National Park areas and constructed campgrounds, and cleared out Caves suitable for tourism, as well as lakes. They earned $1.00 per day and board. Often in tents.

We still enjoy these today.

In 1936-39, the Japanese began to buy all the scrap metal they could find in the US. Automobile junk yards were virtually cleaned out, sold to Japan. Bear in mind they produced no steel then. That was used to build their war machine. As we began to produce arms and sent to UK, our economy began to jump start.

We never had a big economic burst until Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941, when the entire industry of US, was mobilized for WW II.

He just created laws. The bankers are the one that got the economy rolling again by putting money into circulation. They are also the ones who created the depression by taking money out of circulation. This allowed them to buy businesses dirt cheap.

Addressed the "starvation in midst of plenty" by the AAA (agricultural adjustment act)...well, that didn't really help with the "starvation" part, just changed the "plenty".
