If you've had the angels for a while I would probably leave them alone as it would upset them having some new fish enter their territory. I've only had success with angels and other community fish when I grew them all together from young. That included tetras of various varieties (bleeding heart, Neons, Cardinals), livebearers (excluding guppies) and catfish such as plecs and various corys.
I found loaches a bit too aggressive with angels (Don't know why) but they never got on. Clown loaches in particular were a bit of a nightmare
A nice species tank of angels are a great sight especially if you can get them to breed. being a cichlid they are a fascinating to watch if you can get them to pair well. Alternatively get some community cichlids such as small convicts or Kribensis they will be quite nice but prepare to have to put up with squabbling for territory and you might find that angels won't put up with a lot of bullying so be warned. Hope it helps

Gouramis go well with Anglefish (since they too can get large and aggressive, so they can hold their own against them). There are several different types which can add a splash of color to your tank.
I have used clown loaches for bottom feeders and always keep at least one plecostomus for algae control.
I have been able to keep scooling fish, such as neon tetras with angelfish as well, as long as you have a decent sized school (10-12)

i asked my boyfriend and he mentioned gourami (colisalalia), plecs, purple tailed black sharks (labeo cuvier), ramirez dwarf chichlid ( apistogramma ramirezi) - a stunning community fish so might desire to get a male and woman-, all bypass nicely with angel fish, some angel fish are in simple terms aggressive esp in the event that they are in a pair or breeding, he recommends moving the tank contents around so the angel fish thinks its in a clean tank and does not sense so territorial. the attitude fish could be basically a bad tempered fish... if so take him back to the fish save or get a bigger fish tank if moving the ornament does not artwork. constantly upload fish to your tank whilst the lighting fixtures are off to decrease rigidity and so your angel fish does not think of the recent fish is nutrition... lighting fixtures off for an hour that contains the acclimatisation time. corydoras is physically powerful too, small backside living fish that scavenges and cleans your tank if nervous approximately cost.. then decide for sword-tail or platty fish... those are stay bearing fish hardy and have alot of toddlers! pH desires to be approximately 6.0 it rather is for freshwater fish. .

You can keep most community fish with Angels if the Angels are young & grow up with them. However Like you say they get terrortorial when you add new fish, so if you build a good community tank & get young angels you should be fine.

I'd keep it a species only tank if you can. Those angels are evil!
We had angels and did fine with a placo and school of clown loaches. but everything else in the tank? beat up on a regular basis. they killed our graumies, rainbow fish and bala.

freshwater Angelfish? I think someone else thought you meant saltwater Angels.
Angels are only agressive when they are mating. For this reason, I only have one in my tank. I also have a spotted Ralphael Catfish (who lives inside the castle and only comes out at night), one black Molly, two Glass Catfish, three Zebra Danios, and two Bloodfin Tetras. They all have been in the same tank for three years now, and they get along just fine.

I have never had any luck putting any fish with angels. All the angels I have ever had were very aggressive to the other fish.
