Most people don't have a problem with homosexuals forming civil unions with the same rights as heterosexuals...
this is because they believe marriage is a religious institution which is recognized by the government
but that would be unconstitutional. a marriage IS a civil union, and homosexuals have a right to it.
if you don't want your church or religious institution to recognize homosexual marriage, take it up with your church or religious institution, not the government.
in addition, how could they call themselves republicans when they want a direct democratic majority to repress a minority? that goes against the concept of republican democracy
