I live on a moutain in the french pyrenees and I quite often I am hearing a vibration or "hum" which varies in intensity and comes and goes.I hear it near my house and in many locations on the mountain.Sometimes it is intense and feels like it is a bee buzzing around my head. Most people cant hear it at all only occasionally does somene else hear it but so far never at the same intensity as me!
The mountain is exremely quiet and we are a long way from roads and industry etc.I can only think that maybe the mountain is vibrating or making some noise for some reason.

The ones that make the most noise are called volcanoes. The ones that sound like a bee buzzing are called hallucinations. (actually you could hear buzzing or ringing noises in your ears if they are having a problem but it is not related at all to mountains).

It may be from the the constant cooling and heating the mountain experiences over the course of a day.
