Erotica is a picture of a beautiful, nude lady with flowers or lace covering up strategic locations. Arousing yet artistic.
Porn is that same lady getting cornholed by two guys
to a disco soundtrack!
My preference? Depends on the mood...

Erotica is considered more "tasteful" and can be various forms of art, pictures, sculpture, etc. Erotica sometimes forces a person to use their imagination to complete a mental image or thoughts about what they are seeing/hearing.
Porn is more "raw". While some consider it art, as well, it inspires one's more base instincts. It is pure sex and does not leave too much to the imagination.
Erotica is more like theforeplay, and porn is more like the sex in a relationship.
Depending on my mood, I'm up for either, but I do have to say that I lean more towards erotica because it is my own imagination turning the images into what I want. In other words, four different people could look at one erotic image and form four different reactions/opinions/and turn-ons (or offs) from it.

Erotica is a depiction of sexual things. Pornography is erotica with
violence and degradation displacing some of the sexuality.
This makes it entirely observer-dependant. Of course that's the
trouble with original supposed erotica/porn difference. There is of
>course no objective boundary between these.
Why should there be an objective boundary?
pornography definition:
noun
Etymology: Greek pornographos, adjective, writing about prostitutes,
from pornE (prostitute) + graphein (to write); akin to
Greek pernanai (to sell), poros (journey)
Date: circa 1864
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing)
intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic
behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction
erotica definition
noun plural but singular or plural in construction
Etymology: New Latin, from Greek erOtika, neuter plural of erOtikos
Date: 1854
1 : literary or artistic works having an erotic theme or quality
2 : depictions of things erotic
erotic
adjective
Pronunciation: i-'r?ik
Variant(s): also erot?i?cal /-ti-k&l/
Etymology: Greek erOtikos, from erOt-, erOs
Date: 1651
1 : of, devoted to, or tending to arouse sexual love or desire
2 : strongly marked or affected by sexual desire
Of course, if you want a more realistic definition than the abstract
interpretations of linguists, go ask someone in the erotic industry
what they consider to be the difference between what they do and porn.
That will give you a better idea of why the difference is important
to a real person, and hence why it appears in the language.

There is a fine line between the two. For my own part, I don't care for porn, that which I define as sex with no plot. I do enjoy erotica, that which I define as a story told with sensual or sexual overtones.

Porn is strong sexual content without any sense, just plain sex. While Erotica is more of an arrousal way of having sex, more foreplay, more feelings, more cheezy. You´ll never see a man cuming on a woman´s face in an erotic movie, and you see it every time in porn movies.

You can view erotica with a friend. Porn is viewed alone, late at night, with one hand on your crank.

Like beauty, the difference is in the eyes of the beholder.
Erotica is generally considered a type of pornography. It is often blurry, much less fixed on genitalia, and more exotic, fantastic and more left to the imagination.
Porn is more like watching a live operation in comparison.
