Personally I thought it was real when I was younger but now that I know it is scripted, I like it better now than I did when I thought it was real. I know it sounds weird but I think that because things seem to be a little lax as far as the programming that goes on TV, it gives WWE a little more latitude to push the proverbial envelope thereby giving it more of a drama-type feel than anything else.

I remember 20 years ago when I was a kid, WWF was way much better back then than today's wrestling. More colorfull, better story story lines, better actors, WrestleMania used to have about 70,000 people in a baseball stadium! It's was huge! SummerSlam have been showed outside under the sky in a football stadium.
I will never forget great wresters such as Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, The Legion Of Doom, Jimmy "superfly" Snooka, Kamala, Papa Shango, The Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth, George "The Animal" Steel, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Von Erics, Demolition, Hercules, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake who use to cuts is opponent's hair after he win.

I agree back in the 80's I knew that it was fake but I didn't realize to what degree until looking back on it and camparing now with then. It's much more about story lines instead of good ole wrestling like in the days of Ric Flair, Andre THe Giant etc..

After the 80's the actors took over wrestling. The atheletic wrestlers from the 80's saw the writting on the wall with all the dumd and weird stunts.Pure wrestling died.

I think wrestling sucks now. It was much better in the 80's, I agree. I think it seemed more real though because we were a lot younger and naive to the whole situation.

I think it could be that we were younger then and it was knew so we had to learn about it to find out about the disappointing parts. I Love it though.
