The Government in now talking about early intervention programs, so to predict and intervene as they see fit. Have we as a country had the proverbial sheet pulled over our eyes with regard to Anti-social behaviour and youth crime? Has our so called leaders bred Anti-Social behaviour, as a short term issue, by using fear and hysteria as a means of coherence so to introduce and impliment long term measures and call them Intervention Plans, because, by any name, it is simply eugenics????

Yes Citizen, your observation is incorrect. I in fact live in one of the most violent areas of the UK, if statistics are anything to go by....so when we are talking about theories please look at my question again, and maybe look at your own circumstances, so to stop theorizing about my own, which you don't know anything about. If that was the case, i would be on the at risk section of Tony's Social Exclusion speech, whish i feel i should not be, not singled out that is, so i never have my rights taken away from me through intervention just because people like you, and my so called Government, make assumptions about my circumstances.

They haven't helped. I've worked in local government all my life, and with their constant interference, pointless management speak, John Prescott and ODPM (God save us all), and a recognition that the core Labour vote IS yobs and criminals, allied to a deep disrespect for traditional British values of fortitude, kindness and manners. Well .... what did we expect. In the final analysis - Labour loves big government. Lots of criminals and yobs mean big government. Ergo New Labour love criminals and yobs. Rant over.

I think its a mixture of things really but the british government does make it worse. More money needs to be used in schools for education purposes and harsher punishments for young offenders in and outside of school. Everytime a kid commits a crime and the government lets them go it says its ok to do it again, or even worse. I think Prescott shows what a 'thug government' looks like and although parenting does count for a lot in a young persons life i feel the government is ripping every one off.

I think the Government is not yet serious about getting the rough edges of this 'ASBO' thing smoothened. Like so many other things with this Government, they would rather take the easier way out than take the pains to sit down and really do some constructive planning on ways to address the problem.

the guy above is wrong about who is having it away behind the bike sheds it is the governmet !!!!

The sooner we get a government seriuse about law and order with the punishment fitting the crime the better.

ther should be a new kind of national service for anti-social crimes instead of asbos send them to iraq and afganistan to help rebuild the communities and if we lose a few oops nevermind.

This government is responsible for the breakdown of law and order. It has lost the ability to comprehend right from wrong. The family is no longer a unit due to their laws. It has been to soft on the young criminal and that leaves the country vulnerable as they grow older.

You obviously live in a 'nice area' where the anti social behaviour is only a theoretical question

no its the parents who don't bother bringing up their own children and teaching them manners and things. since when has a government official gone round to these kids house and told them they can roam the streets of Britain at any hour they see fit? it is time parents started taking responsibility for their children and stop blaming others.
