On September 11th I will light candles and remember all those who were victims of this horrible day and those who risked there lives to save New York. I will thank God for life and love that i can still experience and pray for the families that have lost there loved ones and friends. Yes, I know that 9/11 was a troubled day, I was there in New York when it all happened but we can also celebrate the unity that we have as citizens to the United States and continue to remember and stay together to fight for our freedom to walk in the streets as proud Americans.

I Visited ground zero, with my family on 12-11-01. I had an American Flag, and every Firefighter and Police Officer I met signed my flag. We spent the week there hugging and crying with everyone we met. Every year I display that American Flag, along with all the pictures, including a picture of the World Trade Towers. My children were 6 months, and 2 years old at the time, now they are 5 and 7. They both fully understand the horrific events of that day, and that we as a country should never stop fighting, regardless of the cost, until this evil is eliminated from the world. I WILL NEVER forget the pain of the GREAT people of New York I met during that trip, and I am shocked that so many Americans have obviously forgotten.

The American flag has been flying outside my house ever since September 11, 2001. A few days after the 9/11 attacks, I wrote the Chicago Sun-Times and they published my letter. In it I said:
"I have never been more proud to be an American than right now. I had just talked to my wife last weekend about taking down the flag for the year and storing it away. Nothing doing. It'll be flying on the front of my house for the rest of my days. When I became an American in 1988, the judge who swore in the new citizens said, "You are no longer hyphenated Americans - you are Americans!" I couldn't agree with that more. Especially now. There are no African-Americans, Arab-Americans, Italian-Americans, etc. We are Americans."
I will honor the memory of those slain by hatred by not only flying the flag every day of my life but by living the American dream which includes the no-hyphen philosophy mentioned by that judge. We are all in this boat we call the United States of America together and we are all rowing.

I will celebrate by demanding a fair and accurate investigation into 9/11. Like how and why did building 7 collapse? How did the towers collapse at the speed of gravity? Why demolition explosions can be seen so easily below the impact point? Why the hole in the pentagon is so small the 757's nose wont even fit in it much less the entire wingspan? Why the 9/11 commision report states on page 401 that there is no evidence linking Osama Bin Laden to 9/11? And why the FBI still wont release the missing video from the gas station at the time the jet airline crashed into the pentagon. I encourage everyone wo watch the Documentary called Loose Change. It can be found on Google video by doing a simple search or by clicking the link below.

Then other people state we have no right to fight this war. I expect these people failed ancient history and have no knowledge of how the Islamic world thinks. If we blink an eye or withdraw it is a sign of weakness and will embolden them even farther. We cannot withdraw , step down or bring our troops home! We are in a very strategic area right now, between Iran & Syria, during a time that both countries rhetoric are becoming more radical each day. Just look at Iran, wanting to wipe Israel off the map, refusing to give up nuclear enrichment with heavy water plants. They can produce energy with light water plants but they have chosen not to. Logic says they are trying to produce weapons, which is unacceptable. They are a great threat to Israel and must be watched very carefully. Iraq is central to the stategy to the War on Terror. The western nations will need another steadfast democracy in this region to keep the radical nations at bay.

My family will have moments of silence and prayers for the victims at the times of the planes hitting the towers, pentagon, and the other flight going down. (The number of the flight escapes me-sorry) I will hang the American flag outside with candles to remember the victims and the hero's of 9/11. May God Bless America and bring us closer together as a Nation and STOP Terrorism. Bring peace to the families and friends of 9/11 and the world. Laurie (WI)

I will do what I usually do, like work, since I think of 9/11 everyday. Not obsess about it, just remember.
We should look back at the pictures of what happened every once in a while not just on the anniversary of 9/11, to be reminded of those planes going into buildings, the terror and pain it caused so many or the way that day changed the way people live and how some think of others in this world.
Point fingers of blame if you must but it still happened and you can't change that now. Stop wasting energy on complaining and instead do something that will prevent this from ever happening again not just in the United States but all over the world. Realistically, what would YOU do to stop terror in this world?

Absolutely nothing. Don't get me wrong. I have no disrespect for the victims of this event... nor do I ignore the implications of the changes in the world since... however, I would say that any direction towards "commemorate" are somewhat misguided. Why do people in this country put so much emphasis on anniversaries? Why not week-aversaries? Or day-aversaries? Because that's taking it too far, right? Too much living in the past if we commemorate it every day? Okay, so we take notice of this date... but why not the date that terrorists bombed the COLE? Why not the day that they bombed the Trains in Spain? Or London? And don't tell me one event is more important than the other... don't tell me these lives are worth more because there were more of them... Two more US soldiers, not to mention 10 civilians, died today in Afghanistan... Do you think those families will hang a flag and talk of buildings? Horrible horrible things are happening every day... every where. Seems to stop and focus on any of them, no matter how much we are told to remember them and use them to fuel our hatred of others, is counter productive to what we all want in life... Oh... why would I even post something like this... Am I going to improve anyone's lives? To change the world, you can't just reason with people.. you can't ask them to live better.. they need tragedy... It's sad.

I will pray for our soldiers overseas who are still fighting to keep us safe. I will pray that our President will make the best decisions he can. I will also pray for the families who lost loved ones in the WTCs and in the 3 flights that went down that day. May they remember that although the way the government may not be handling it the best way possible, they aren't just letting it go and turning the other cheek. I will light a candle to honor every brave soul who lost their life that day. The people who had just gone to work, the people who were flying home or somewhere else, the courageous firefighters, EMS, and police officers who lost their lives in a valiant attempt to save as many people as possible. I shed a tear as I think back to sitting in my classroom and watching it all happen on the TV. My teacher said our lives would change that day and he was right. I hope someone who reads this will think twice about condemning our government, telling others to get over it, or saying it doesn't really matter. Because it does. This day touched millions of lives and will live on in our hearts and souls. This is the first time since Pearl Harbor that we have been attacked on U.S. soil. My generation didn't think something like this could ever happen to our little bubble. But it did.

I will remember all of those who lost their lives on that awful day, and then I will pray that the families of those lost will stop being so greedy. They keep demanding different memorials, saying that the ones planned are not good enough, all the while their "Loved ones" are without a memorial because the living can not agree on how to remember them. If the families want something more they should pay for it with the life insurance they collected. After all most people carry the life insurance so they can afford to bury their loved ones.
911 was an awful day, it should be remembered for the awful day it was. It should not be remembered for the greed and lack of respect the families have shown after the fact. If anyone in my family had been in the world trade center on that day I would want the building rebuilt as soon as possible and that would be the memorial to my loved one.
On september 11th I will also keep the soldiers in my thoughts, they have given so much to hunt down the animals responsable for 9/11 and I would bet that the families of the WTC casulties don't even give a thought as to the memorial they will be given.
On september 11th thousands of people died in the world trade center, doing nothing more than providing for their families. Thousands of Military personel have died defending their country, and hunting down the terrorists. The families of the WTC casulties got thousands if not millions of dollars, the families of the military personel will get almost enough to provide a funeral for their loved ones. But the WTC families still complain that the planned memorials are not enough.

I will take some time to remember the feelings I had as I tuned into the live broadcasts and hearing the announcer say that they are seeing a second plane coming. I remember being in a detached state of shock realizing that the economy I was praying to return after the deplorable political stunt of Al Gore and the Socialist Sh-thead Jack-as party was about to go to hell again and worse. That Billy Bob Cliton had allowed the whole mess to fester to the point that it occurred, does not make me love the Demobratic Party any less.
I hope and pray that at some point soon, the mis-informed, politically spun masses of this nation realize that there are forces trying to divide us up for slaughter. These same forces are hard at work trying to destroy the Republics of Mexico and Iraq. We need to find the common denominator and destroy it/them before they manage to cause the free countries of this world the loss of our souls.
I will also fantasize about Tehran finally getting the rain of weapons(See "Shock and Awe") down upon their sorry Chicken Shiite heads they have deserved since they first held Americans hostage and demonstrated to the world how easily the US can be ridiculed because we can not control our media from playing a sick version of the story of the "Cart and the Horse". You simply can not please everybody, there are always critics, and hindsight is always 20-20. When we elect a person and make him responsible to do what needs to be done, we do not need and should not want, a media circus of back-seat driving clowns going around tripping him up and trying to influence his actions.
It is just a very sorry(usually partisan) political stunt that the American people should never tolerate or allow-freedom of the press or not.
As an example of freedoms abused, I am free to drive, socioty has decided they do not want me to drive while in bad judgement, why should we allow the media to exercise bad judgement on their part? Are they SPECIAL?,ABOVE US?, SUPERIOR?-I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!
