To my understanding, community colleges seldom require SAT scores for admission. Having an 840 score should not impede you from enrolling at a CC. And if you really are bright (and just a lousy test taker), then you can prove your scholastic proficiency by doing well in your classes and getting good grades. If your grades are good enough, you can either complete a competitive program (like nursing or other allied health), or transfer into a 4-year university.

Hm. That's a tough question. I would advise you to retake the test if you can afford it, because you at least want to be slightly above average, and 840 is kind of around the halfway mark. But I'm speaking from the SATs of my age, when the top grade is 1600. I think the most you can get now is like 2400 or something. On the other hand, each community college is different--most schools don't just look at your SATs. They also look at your extracurriculars and your transcripts and essay whatnot. If the latter is a strong aspect of your portfolio, then you don't need to worry as much. But if you didn't really do anything in high school besides the usual, then I would advise that you retake the exam.
And hey! You are NOT dumb. Just so you know, the SAT doesn't accurately measure how intelligent you are. It measures, really, how well you can take the test. But it's guide for colleges to see if you can handle college-level stuff.

I would say that for the most part it really depends on your grades. Even many four year universities won't even consider you SAT scores if your GPA is above a certain point. I work at a four year university, so I don't really know the admissions policies for the community colleges. If your grades are decent you will probably have no trouble getting in to a community college. I would, however, take the test again anyway. If you want to apply for scholarships you will probably have to have a higher SAT score.

Community colleges have admissions standards? As far as I know, as long as you graduated high school you'll get into community college. Every school is different though, so it wouldn't hurt to take the SATs again if you think you could do better, especially if you might want to transfer to a four-year school after CC.

Community Colleges will accept you. SAT Scores are more important to the larger Universities, and many Community Colleges have their own admisions test anyway. Good luck! You'll be fine.

The fact that you actually took the SAT test is enough to get you into any community college. As long as you can write your name you can get into community college. They aren't very picky.
