I know someone who has an absolutely filthy house, but brags about how clean she keeps it. Is she in denial? Does she just have low standards?

For the very same reason fat girls smush themselves into clothing that should only be worn by thin people. Denial.

Kids pick their toys. Depending on their ages, if they are warned and continue to leave the toys laying around, they become "lost". Again, depending on their ages, they are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. No eating in their bedrooms and they vacuum once a week. Laundry goes in hampers. Do not launder any clothing on the floors. When they are out of clothing, I guess they should have put it in the hamper. (Same thing goes for the spouse.) One spouse cooks dinner and the other does the dishes. (Let them air dry instead of towel dry). Alternate this chore. Have the kids clear the dishes of of the table. 15 minutes per room per day will keep the house clean.

Maybe her house is clean but untidy. But to me as long as the surfaces are bleached polished etc, the bathroom is immaculate, and kitchen areas clean, I don't mind if the kids leave toys out. or a bit of clutter.

She may be in denial, but she is also fooling herself to thinking that her standards are acceptable.

If you were to walk in their house with your hands raised and your nose wrinkled, it looks like you are keeping from getting dirty and don't care for the smell. They will get the message soon enough.

I love to see all the judgemental people. Everybody has different standards......hers aren't the same as yours. Maybe her house is clean and you're just an anal clean freak. I have a friend like that, he says his place is messy, and you can't find a speck of dust anywhere......

Well, my house is filthy and I know it. But I work full time and my husband is disabled, I'm trying to train him, but it takes time, and I'm not working after working all day.
