Automatic. I've got enough on my mind all day without remembering to shift gears.

Absolutely stick shift! There's no driving at all with automatic transmission! Ity's like driving a kid-car! I love driving and I love stick shift, no doubt at all. I can have a TOTAL control on the car, decide when give power, how much of it, when brake without touching the brakes, keep control in curves... STICK SHIFT RULES!
And I love it also in heavy traffic, it keeps me awake and gives me some fun!
p.s: and if someone is not still convinced, try to play some driving game with auto-shift, and then give me your track records... :)

I hate stick. I drive both, and I defintely prefer automatic. Imagine sitting in traffic, at the top of a hill, at a stop light, in the rain. Then the light turns green. If you have a stick shift, you are in big trouble when you try to go if the person behind you is right on your a__.
BTW, hello to the Thumbs Up Fairy!

I drive an automatic but previously owned a manual. I prefer the manual in the winter because I feel like I have better control on snow packed roads. Automatic is easier when I have the two kids in the backseat.

I prefer a stick, They're more fun, get better gas mileage, and you have more control. I don't like them in heavy traffic or when I'm really tired but for the most part i like to drive a stick more

I prefer the stick shift unless I am in heavy traffic then it is automatic but I pull trailers often and the auto usually doesn't hold up long

I prefer the stick shift. It allows me more control for gas saving purposes and it gives me something to do while I'm driving, as driving can be pretty boring. However, in heavy traffic, it can be a drag, as you said.

I prefer driving a manual because it is more challenging and keeps me awake. However, in Los Angeles county traffic, it is impractical, so I drive an automatic.

When I lived in LA, it had to be an automatic. When I lived in Phoenix, it had to be an automatic. Where I live now, 5-speed stick Corvette! Yowee ! Due to winter, back to my automatic in a few weeks.

Was brought up on manuals, but prefer automatics. I have found that you have more attention for the road with the automatics.
Actually ran checks, driving the same route with both. Noticeable difference!!
