It is. Because when you're honest and truthful you generate trust that is also very important. Plus, when you're honest and truthful your relationship tends to have very good communication flow and therefore it avoids tension between couples and hence it makes the relationship smoother. It all works as a cycle in which one thing will always lead to another.

Once the trust is gone, it's all over in my opinion and yes honesty is important but there are just some things that should be left unsaid, it's not about not being honest, it's just that sometimes you have to know when too much honesty isn't good. Loving someone more than anything is whats imortant to me, because if you don't, it won't work, learned that the hard way.

If you're talking about responding to, "Does this make my butt look big," or "How about this new suit," no. Some times that calls for lying through your teeth. As for anything else, from the check book to irritating behavior, honesty and truthfulness may not be the MOST important issue but, if those are not there, it will almost certainly wreck a relationship.

There are so many components of a relationship that it's hard to say what's most important. Partly because, the people in the relationships are different and their ideals of what makes their relationship work may be slightly different from others. Relationships require a lot: communication, trust, honesty, open-mindedness...the list can go on and on and on. You just have to realize what's important to you and yours and work from there.

Yes without trust and honesty a relationship will die.It takes a solid foundation to build a relationship on. If it is built on a sand hill it will wash away, crumble. How ever if it's built on a cement or solid foundation it will work out a whole lot better and lasts a lot longer.Trust and Honesty is vital for any kind of relationship.

No. honesty and truthfulness are supposed to be a given anyway. but fear keeps us from being honest and truthful. constantly. I'm scared they'll leave me, i'm scared I'll get arrested, I'm scared the government is watching, i'm scared to say no, yada yada yada. The only thing you need for a healthy relationship is love. Belief that the person you are in the relationship with is human and they deserve you to be there for them. If you don't feel that way, you should be single.

it is absolutely one of the most important aspects bc it leads to building trust in the relationship. you must be secure in your relationship and to do that, you must have trust, which is earned through honesty and truthfulness. many people have different ideas of what is most important to them in their own personal relationships - we are all different. i think, however, that most would agree that yes - honesty and truthfulness are critical to building a satisfying long term relationship.

Whithout honesty, you cannot build trust or reliability, nor can you feel comfortable with the intimacy required to really build the relationship. How could you tell your partner your secrets if they were dishonest about whether they would share the information with others?
You must be able to rely on their word for anything to work.
