Help me find the slope.?

Question

2 points on this line are (35.4,2.0) & (104.4,40.0) Then I need to calculate Y if x=32.0 and calculate y if x =212.0. The y intercept is appox -18.0 CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND EXPLAIN THIS.... WE DID THIS IN CALCULUS 3 SEMESTERS AGO!!! AND I'VE FORGOTTEN HOW! Now I have to do this for chemistry... Please explain how to do it, and if possible to solve this for me. Thanks. Angel

Slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1=
=(40-2)/(104.4 - 35.4)
=0.550724637=0.55 (app.)
Therefore equation of the line is
y = 0.55x - 18
when x=32 then y =0.55x32 -18= - 0.4
when x = 212 then y = 0.55x212-18=98.6

Two points on the line is all you need to define the line... So first remember a line can be defined as: y= mx + b... So all you need to do is find m and b.
First take (35.4,2.0) set x=35.4 and y= 2.0 to get
2.0 = m35.4 + b
similarly we have,
40 = m104.4 + b

Now with 2 equations and 2 varables we solve to get,
b = -17.49565217, m = 0.5507246377

So the line is y = 0.5507246377*x - 17.49565217

Now all that is left is to find y at the desired values of x...
When x=32 we have
y =0.5507246377*32 - 17.49565217 =0.1275362364
and when x=212 we have
y =0.5507246377*212 - 17.49565217 = 99.25797102

Slope = change in y over change in x = 35.4-104.4 / 2.0-40.0 = 1.816
y = mx + b
y = 1.816 x + -18
y = 1.816 (212) - 18
y = 367

69y-138=38x-1345.2
69y=38x-1207.2
y=0.55x-17.5
slope=0.55 and y intercept=-17.5
if x=212 substituting
y=(0.55)(212)-17.5=99.1

y=0.55(32)-17.5=0.1
