I am ready to get marry in the next 2 months. The problem is that hes ex- girlfriend, who is crazy! hates me because he is with me now, and calls my boyfriend to harrass him and tell him that if he doesn't leave me she is going to "beat me up", do something to me etc...that she doesn't care, that he is "her man", that i came between them ( it is not true). She used to hit my boyfriend before and make his life miserable. Now after 1 year and a half, she left for a while but now she is back, wanting to hurt me or him somehow. I need help on how to make her stop harrassing me everywhere we go, ( he is a musician, so he takes me to most of his gigs). Two days ago, was the "drop that spilled the glass" for me. She show up at the gig and grabbed me by my arm so hard that she left a big bruse on my arm, and then security took her outside. She was treatening my boyfriend and yelling that she was going to "beat me up". im really scare that she could hurt me or my boyfriend. Please help.

Your county courthouse will likely have a domestic abuse service center or department that handles the filing of restraining or harrassment orders. you will need any evidence you have of past incidences of this person's harrassing you, such as police reports or other paperwork, or just a list of dates when she physically touched or made threats to you as well as what exactly the threats were. Where I live you also pay a fee to file for this order, but it can be waived if you can show proof of being unemployed or on public assistance.

After the intake worker writes up your temporary order, it is sent to a judge to be either approved due to enough evidence, or it could be rejected and not signed by the judge if they feel it is without merit.
If your order is approved, you keep a copy of it with you at all times, and the sheriff will be serving the order upon the respondent as soon as possible so that they are aware of the order being in effect.
The filing of a protection order is a civil matter but violation of it is a criminal offense which means that if the woman you file against ignores the order and has any contact at all with you.....email, letters, phone calls, in person, or through another person by asking them to deliver a note to you, you can call the police and report the violation. Violation of a restraining order is a crime and they will have to go to court to answer for that.

All of the above is how things are done in Minnesota, your state/county laws may vary, but the general idea should be the same.

It depends on the state you live in. I would suggest you call your nearest domestic violence organization. It should be in the phone book.(They will be able to help you with advocacy. )If you can't find it in the phone book you can call the NCADV and get a number you can call for info on the nearest dv agency

Go to the police, but bring proof. Record phone calls, come with bruises or photos. You need documentation or they will say it's your word against hers. Is this guy worth it? It seems like he should be able to stop it if he wanted to. Maybe he likes the thought of women fighting over him.

Go to your local law enforcement. File assault charges, then file for the restraining order. You should have a decision/court order by the end of business day.

bad news... I don't know where you're from but my mans ex drove me to try for a pfa myself...... she actually DID break in to our house.. they told me I couldn't get a restraining order because i wasn't the one who dated/lived with her. Basically, unless your related or have been directly involved (marriage/relationship) you're screwed. they did tell me to get a no trespassing sign and put it up outside. that way, as soon as she stepped onto the premises, I could call the police and they could cite her with something. Have your man try for a PFA. That's your best bet

This is something you file in your local count court. Most have forms for you to fill out, as it is a fairly common procedure.

You didn't mention your state. There are different rules for different states I don't imagine they are all that different. Look at the attached or do your own search on your state to find the proper forms for you.
