For example, my name is Maria Josefa Villaluz Almonte.
Maria Josefa (two first names)
Villaluz (Mother’s maiden name)
Almonte (Surname of father)

Is it correct when companies and legal institutions (INS for Green Card) shorten my name as Maria J. Almonte?
Or should it be Maria V. Almonte because “Villaluz” is my mother’s maiden name, thus should be my middle initial rather than “J” for Josefa which is my second firstname?

Choice 1: Maria J. Almonte
Choice 2: Maria V. Almonte

Which is legally correct? Thank you!

Legally, they're gonna recognize Choice #1. I have 2 children with 2 middle names, but legally they're recognized by their 1st middle name.
