Jim W posted a question list Republican failures. And yes I know he's partisan. To Jim, if you ain't Democrat you ain't S___T. But I still want to know what Democrats claim to be their crowning glories.

To those that say Democrats balanced the budget. I'll remind them the President does not balance the budget. He only proposes the budget. Congress revises that proposal and makes all kinds of changes. The Prez then gets and up or down vote.

Welfare really ratcheted up under LJB's day. Why didn't Democrats reform it before 1994 when THEY controlled Congress.

Government doesn't create jobs. Businesses do.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the sale of Cigars did shoot up in the late 90's.

How about:

Balancing the federal budget (actually creating a surplus) for the first time in over 40 years?

All time lows in unemployment.

Welfare reform.

It is easier to pick apart someone else when you have no crowning achievments. I think that stock in the cigar industry rose dramatically during Clinton's term in office.

Dear Heidi,

Well this is what I was talking about- Taken from Wickipedia- G's get your mind out of the gutter girl- Get informed.

Revival of interest
During the mid- to late 1990s in the United States, numerous cultural phenomena caused the popularity of cigar smoking to skyrocket. Lavish dinner events, or "smokers", were held in virtually every metropolitan area of consequence across the United States. Celebrities, radio and television talk-show hosts, politicians, blue-collar workers, and even a large number of women were drawn to the allure of the cigar. The sudden resurgence in cigar smoking created demand that was difficult to supply. Additionally, the significance of the U.S. trade embargo on Cuba – imposed some 30 years earlier, before many of the new aficionados were born – suddenly became very evident. Cigar retailers, a good number of them new establishments looking to capitalize on the craze, could name their price on virtually every type and brand of cigar. Some even refused to sell any one customer an entire box at a time, regardless of the fact that only a very few could afford to, as a courtesy to their other customers.

In the rush to meet demand, the quality of many premium cigars suffered for brief periods of time. Eventually, consumer demand so far outpaced supply that many of those who took it up had to cease the practice altogether. For many, this was mainly due to either lack of supply or overinflated prices. For others, the newness of the fad had simply worn off. By 2005, cigar prices had descended to reasonable levels, and supply of the best brands is abundant for those who continue to enjoy cigar smoking, even in the face of public scrutiny and disapproval.

Democrats- created the GI.Ibill or rights; right after herbert hover(republican) burned the vets tent and ran them out of washington. Democrats started social security! republicans have tried to get rid of it ever since! Democrats rebuilt america right after republicans created the great depression. Democrats won two world wars.the majority of americans were always Democrats untill ronald reagon brought abortion into politics, then all the church looneys, turned republican because they thought it more important to save the unborn. then to help the american children already born.

his question was a retaliatory question to list democratic failures. But anyways, why do you only give one lame duck presidential term to democratic victories? Especially with a republican controlled house and senate? None of these are fair questions, boys. And Shiraz has had to create two identities to prevent himself from being kicked off for harrassing other participants.

looks like fireside is guilty of her own crime...
