No. 1 reason for yellow leaves is too much water. You only want to water when the root ball is drying out. Cut back on the water and see if the new leaves stay green.
If they still turn yellow, nitrogen deficiency is next most common cause. Any fertilizer made for whatever plant you have will provide the nitrogen. Do not overfeed them.
Lack of light can cause yellowing but you will usually see the stems stretching and being weaker than usual before the yellow starts to show.

i'm not sure about the yellowing, but i suspect that light levels may be a factor. i know from experience that if certain plants receive too much water the leaves nearest to the trunk will start to shed; not enough water & the leaves farthest away from the trunk will start falling off.

It could be an Iron defiencency. The symptom of low iron are yellow leaves. You can fertilize with tree spikes or regular tree fertilizer.

before you consider ploblems - don't forget older leaves at the bottom of all the growth are shed as newer leaves are produced, when they are shaded by newer growth. If they don't produce the food they once did and the plant cast them away.
