Yeah it airs on ESPN. I know freshwater fishing like for black bass actually takes a great deal of talent...(with a little luck)

I'm a fisherman and fishing IS NOT A SPORT. It was never meant to be made into a massive competition. At most it would be about trying to best the other guy in the boat but more importantly it was about bettering yourself. Fishing is meant to be a relaxing and thoughtful activity and not a frantic race to catch the five biggest fish. Is this really what has happened to a wonderful pastime? As for comparing it to baseball...ESPN and USA today both analyzed that hitting a baseball off good pitching is the most athletically challenging task in sports.

Fishing is a hobby, not an actual sport. The only way that I think you can classify it as a sport is if your a Professional in like the Bass Masters or something.

Wow, what humor, trying to compare fishing to baseball. Very original....not.

And I'm not knocking fishing, either. Certain types of fishing are very much sports - it's not like those guys in competition are spending a lazy Sunday afternoon out on the lake. It takes skill, strength and stamina to be a good fisherman. I wouldn't compare them with athletes from most of the major sports, but it doesn't mean they're not sportsmen.

It all depends on who you ask. For now, the answer would be yes by popular vote, I think (but not by my vote, just for the record).
