I knew a few people that did this in the 'burbs outside of Philadelphia and they were at their posts with the ploughs before the heavy snow set in.

Good question! Many of the drivers park the snow ploughs in a sutiable place near where they live.

In a lot of communities, they either take the plow home, or sleep near the machine sheds.

In bigger communities there is almost always a shift at work, so the shift that is 'On' just plows the streets for the next shift to get to work and keep on a truckin'.

the same way as everyone else i suppose they walk or take a bus ma by drive or take a taxi jump on a sleigh after all they don't just go to work when it snows?

I used to walk to work when I did it.
4 a.m. starts were horrible, and sometimes the day lasted to 11 p.m.
