I hate these questions. You could be answering this for millions of years, i could say egg, and you could say chicken. But i would have to stick with EGG

Eggs. Basically an egg is a series of cells that slowly transforms upon fertilisation. And seeing as Science suggests that our universe was made from the transformation of one cell combining with another this would suggest that indeed the egg came first.
Btw what the heck is a chicen anyway :p

If, by "egg", you mean "chicken egg" (eggs in general having been covered above), then the egg still came first.
It's all a question of how you define a species. The generally accepted method of determining if two individuals of opposite sex are of the same species is - would they breed productively (i.e. have fertile children) in the wild?
Taking current chickens as a reference point, and moving back in time, we would see a series of individuals diverging from modern chicken, but theoretically still able to interbreed. At some point, this ability to interbreed stops - but going forward, the next generation has it.
This generation must have began as an egg - so the chicken egg came before the chicken. Case closed.

The egg ! Here is the scientific reasoning. Animal species are the results of genetic mutations over time. Therefore the first specimen of chicken resulted from a genetic mutation in the egg that produced it. It had a parent that was genetically close to it but was not quite a chicken yet. This likely happened through a series of these genetic mutations over hundreds of years and not overnight. But in any case the first chicken hatched from an egg !!!
