not really. But I don't care what people think of me as a person either. I figure as long as I know the truth who cares. Most people's hate or rage is based on lies and rumors anyway so why worry about it.

I think most Americans want to have a country that we are proud of- and we do. We are not always proud of the way our government officials are conducting themselves, or the way the current administration makes a mockery of American values, and takes the people for granted. If we cannot be proud of our conduct in the eyes of God, what does it matter what any mere mortal thinks?
As an American, I often wonder what people in other countries think of our country, aside from our politicians, and I think we need to be mindful that when we visit other countries, we are representing the US and should show graciousness always. If someone isn't going to like us because of what our politicians do then they are wrong and it isn't our concern.

Yes,I do care and as an American,I do whatever I can to dispel the negative image of this country..GWB and his cohorts have done great damage to our nations image and seem intent to make it even worse on a daily basis.
It seems we have no policy's on the war in Iraq and no policy on illegal immigration and /or Iran.We are floundering wildly in a sea of lies and half truths, that are spoon fed to a gullible public. We need answers ,we need solutions not more lies blown up our azzs.
I travel a great deal on both business and pleasure and it seems I spend half my time answering questions about what America is going to do next. I honestly don't know, but I do know the status quo is not working.
Bring back Americas pride in herself and her government.I love my country and I want others to respect this nation too.

The spectrum of human opinion is so enormous and varied that trying to affect it in any reasonable and meaningful way is completely ludicrous (just ask the ad agencies hired by US auto makers).

I am an American. I care about what I THINK. If Europeans, Asians and Africans did not like my country, that is their prerogative, they don't have to like my country. If they detest my country to the point of attacking it and killing its inhabitants, then I really don't care about what they think, but rather when and how they can be dealt with decisively.

The American political system and society in general is unique to the world. Many don't understand it. And that is likely why so many detest our nation. Some say we are too aggressive, too interested in our own benefit, too inflexible regarding other cultures, political systems and interests. I think that can be said of most any country, only we are the wealthiest and militarily the most capable. We stick out like a sore thumb, so to speak, so it is easy for others to criticize, object and otherwise defame what is likely the grandest civilization assembled on earth in quite some time. I say that because I live here and have visited a few other countries and have studied with and interacted with citizens from even more countries. I realize why people come here, what they enjoy here and why they choose to study, live in and move to America. It is the opportunity of self-expression and determination. And that thought about my nation DOES make me proud, and I DO CARE about that aspect of international thought.

When non-Americans stop visiting, stop studying, stop wanting to live in the U.S. and partake in our society, that may worry me, a bit. But it is a testimony to the greatness of our nation, our civil systems, our acceptance of all cultures and our unbelievable tolerance of detractors and enemies that is unparalleled in the world.

So I ask you, do you care about your country as much as you worry about what others think about America? I know the attributes and flaws of my nation and on the whole, there isn't a more splendid and enlightening place on the face of the earth. That's what matters to me. If others don't share that opinion, they have their right not to do so, but it doesn't diminish the wonders of my American life one bit.

You're living with the same obstacle we are: An EXTREMELY biased media. While much of what you hear about the U.S. is probably true, you aren't by any definition getting the whole story.

So, the answer to your question is: Yes, I care. But I know very well there isn't anything I can personally do to change the way the world chooses to view us.

Yes, it is vitally important to us, whether we realize it or not, what the rest of the world thinks about Americans. And for those who think it is not important, what about for our own selfish economic reasons? How are Americans going to sell our products abroad if everyone hates us? We cannot survive without trade. We live in an inter-dependent world, whether we like it or not, and we should care about what our neighbors think of us.

No I don't. My sense of self worth does not derive from what other people think of me. Consequently, my pride in being an American does not come from what other nations think. The simple fact is that you either love America, or you don't, there does not appear to be any middle ground. No matter what lip service is paid to the reasons there have always been people who hate America, and there always will be. No matter what good we do in the world, they will always seize on the worst to form their opinions.

The sad thing is, we cannot control what people think about our country. The morons who run our country represent us how they feel best.

Yes, we vote, but let me tell you what...I wouldn't have enacted 90% of the laws on the books today or endorsed 80% of our policies. So much for my vote that counts.

Of course most Americans care what others think of their countries, whether you are Argentinian, Canadian, Bolivian, Mexican or of any other American nationality.

Don't you care what people think of your country?
