Because they don't pay attention and apparently don't use the spell check. But if you're in a hurry, I suppose you don't. Especially since you misspelled the word this.

people who don't know how to spell are forgiven. but what about those who know they've spelled it wrong and don't bother to correct it? doesn't it show the lack of something? would they make such a mistake just as easily if they were writing for a more serious purpose? would that then not mean that they do not consider it important enough to correct it? if that't the case, isn't this forum then used for half hearted mental titillation? like a low level of existence?

It's not hard to make spelling mistakes here. If a person is in a hurry, or is on a computer that he/she is not used to, like the ones in the UK or Europe, where the QWERTY becomes AZERTY on the keyboard--can cause problems when typing.
All it takes is a little time to proofread your typing to get things right. :-D

I learned how to spell from going to school and reading books, most of these people are ditching class and have never read a book.

I believe that most people do not use the Yahoo spell checker like they could/should.

because not all people are from the US or the UK, English is not their first language (just like me BTW), but people should also learn to use the spell checker from yahoo:)
