I have thought very carefully over many years about Steve and the other "jump-ons" that followed.

It was an incident waiting to happen...I learnt more about nature from David Attenborough whispering a la " here we see XXXXX in it's natural habitat..." that some guy crashing around scaring animals into attacking....

I expect the stingray was just trying to give Steve it's signature......or a cuddle...

Reason often comes too late. See the video of him holding up a baby in front of a live crocodile? If he had done that in this country he would have been arrested for child endangerment, and rightly so. He was likeable, but "pushed it too far" once too often and paid the ultimate price for it. They said he didn't know the ray was there, but the Great Barrier Reef is dangerous as hell. He knew it was dangerous.

wow buddy have some respect. Here's a little known fact: the crocodile hunter became rediculously wealthy while doing what he loved, exploring nature and educating people. However, he lived in a shanty until the day he died because he donated 100% of it to saving the animals he "intruded" upon and to other various organizations. Think before you speak and get your facts straight before passing judgement on someone no longer alive to dispute it with you.

So everyone should avoid swimming in the ocean to avoid encroaching on animals territory? He was just observing the stingrays...then it stung him. I never read anything about him holding the tail of the animal. and yes, it was an accident.

Absolutely correct!

I was thinking the same thing. I mean, I am sure Mr. Croc Hunter did some good things as far as setting up charities and such, but he should have realized that what he was doing was being seriously irrisponsible. He was no expert on sting rays, and he should have been protected, at least for the sake of his kids that will be left behind with millions of dollars - the poor things.

Yada, yada, yada. What do I think? I think you're another PETA pet, following their tired Dogma, passing along well known crap such as Aninals are primed for fight or flight. Wow, that's really original, you must be really smart, to have come up with that on your own. And what the hell does Jerry Springer have to do with the Irwin incident? Jerry associates with white trash like yourself, and not wild animals.

Hey, he made a career of poking crocs and other big lizards at the mouth, and by picking up venemous snakes by the tail and swirling them in the air. Something was going to get him eventually, and it happened to be this.

I think his show was educational and he truly respected the animals you say he "intruded" upon.

Have a beer and settle down.
