I understand plenty of people have already posted questions about this but i think the reason that everyone is so shocked is because we all thought he was a modern day superman, being able to do what he did...it's sad...but i guess his kryptonite was the sting ray...I think he will be greatly greatly missed.....What is your point of view on his death and how he died??? and if you could, what would you say to his family?????

I think he lived his life to the fullest and did not let danger hold him back. He seemed to go a bit too far sometimes, but that's just his nature and his passion.

To his family, "Your husband/dad has touched many lives and is considered a legend by many, know that millions of us are mourning with you, you are not alone."

You are very right we were all shocked because he was like superman. He will be missed. My son and I enjoyed his shows and you could tell he really cared for the animals. Not too many people have gotten so many people watching wildlife shows. I'm sure he will be missed in that community also. I send my love and prayers to his family. Even though you know your husbands got a dangerous job you can never be fully prepared.

I was, and still am deeply shocked by his death - as i also thought he was pretty much invinsible, and to die in such a random, dare i even say 'silly, or actually very unlucky' way - considering millions of people snorkel in those waters all year round, the fact he was killed by a sting ray is so rare.. and to a famous person, well, the chances are billions to one.. i can only say that he lived his life to the full, he did everything he ever wanted.. long will he live in the hearts of those he entertained, of who loved him (of course), and to all the naturalists and environmentalists of the world..
He was a brave man who helped put australia well and truly on the map in the eyes of the media...

He lived a very adventurous life! He took everyday risks that ordinary people would never dream of doing. He was very trained and experienced at what he did BUT ACCIDENTS do happen that cause death especially in the line of work he did! I feel so badly for his wife and 2 children! They must be going thru hell right now. He probably died as happy as anyone could! He died doing what he loved most in life.

Bindi, his daughter, reminds me of my own daughter. An adventurous girl that loves to play with frogs and snakes instead of dolls. My daughter learned a good amount of her animal information from watching Steve. It is a devastating loss. I would love to be able to send Bindi a picture that my daughter drew of Steve and let her know what a great influence her dad had in the world. Steve Irwin will be missed.

I actually feel as if it was a family member who died. We all had him as a guest in our homes every week and we wrestled the Crocodiles with him and we also held onto his son in 2004 while Steve fed the Crocodiles. I am in mourning for what seems like my Uncle Steve Irwin. I will miss him and may God lead him.

R.I.P Steve Irwin

I really enjoyed watching his show and his antics. He was a very vivrant and happy person all the time. He seemed like he feared nothing. I can also relate to his great love of animals. He wanted to understand them and discover what he could about their habitat. He wanted to be assured he knew the world around him. More should be like this. I know that no one plans on dying that young, but I honestly think he would have rather died doing what he loved rather than old and/comotose (who wouldn't.)

It was such a freak accident, yet I guess nothing is really that odd when you are dealing with nature and her creatures. To Steve I would say "Good on ya, mate", for helping to educate millions through your enthusiasm and love for all creatures, great and small, weak and dangerous. I really feel for his family, especially his daughter and son. His wife always knew he was a danger-dodger, however his children will have to suffer without their dad, which is always tragic...especially since he seemed to adore and be very involved with them. A great loss to all, animals included, for losing an animated, loving educator.

I think he was a wonderful man that I always admired (and thought was cute) ..... I love how he connected with the animals. I was just watching he and his daughter swim with dolphins on one of his shows earlier...I was about to cry then thought to myself (hes probably swimming with more dolphins in Heaven, he's probably loving it) .... so beautiful. My point of view on how he died is that it was a good way to go....in a way...he died living his dream out...and it got him in his heart...although thats rough thats where all his love was for the animals and where his passion was held for his job....kind of weird if you ask me...as far as his family goes, I would tell his wife that it will be ok (I lost the father of my son when I was 5 months preg to him) Id tell her that and that things EVENTUALLY get better even though they seem like they NEVER will ... Id also tell her that time heals everything and it does indeed....dont make it better but makes it easier.... Id speak to his children and explain how nice I think Heaven would be to them and explain that he will always be watching over them (as I tell my son) ..... may he rest in peace I think he was put on earth to be a legend and he did his job and his good part in and for the world. Now he can relax.

This was something that everyone who has ever watched his show saw coming sooner or later but for some reason it still caught mem off guard. He really tempted death and it finally could be avoided no longer.
