No, I didn't hear that. How terrible!!!!! You can't pull those things out! You have to push them on through to the other side or cut them surgically. They have barbs on them. I have seen many people step on one and be on crutches for up to a year. I am more afraid of sting ray than shark when I swim in the Gulf. They lay right under the sand's surface and you can't see them (like land mines). Ya gotta shuffle your feet to scare them away. I can't imagine he did that. I can't imagine how this whole thing happened in the first place. Just goes to show you that you never know what is gonna happen next or what you would do or how you would handle it. Only 12 people have ever died throughout time from a sting ray (on record). He was a great man.

I heard that. He was an amazing person. He helped our environment more than anyone will ever realize. An amazingly brave person that did many great deeds in his short-life. Being that he pulled it out is an amazing stint all in its own. I mean, he was stabbed in the heart, I don't think much could have saved that, whether he pulled it out or not.
It's sad to see him go out this way. When I heard about it on the breaking news, it gave me the chills. I never had though about how great of things he did for his country and around the world to help the animals and the planet.
He will be missed!

He did not pull it out before he passed away. He would have been in too much pain. But that really sucks about him. I can't even believe it. I am still in shock. Out of all of the 6 billion people in this whole world, it had to happened to him. I LOVED the Crocidile Hunter.

It was an immediate reaction. He should have left it in....perhaps he would have survived. A surgeon that I knew told me of a case he was involved in of a man falling on a big piece of glass and it went through his heart. The rescuers left if in until he got to the hospital. As they inched it out, they stitch up the vessels......they saved his life as he went on to more repair surgery. Had they pulled it out, he would have hemorrahged. Such is life, huh?

He did pull it out. I think he had the presence of mind to realize that thing was venomous but I don't think he realized he'd been hit in the heart.
I know he would hate this death most of all possible deaths. He was making the video for his daughter.

No I didn't hear that, I'm just so upset and sad that he had to die, why? why him? Just like that he has to die? He wrestled crocks, snakes, played with spiders, and sharks, then just like that stung by a fish, and BAM, gone. I just cant even believe it. Now what are his wife and kids going to do? Sometimes i wonder, why does GOD take some one like that away?

I JUST heard about it. It's just awful that he left the world the way he did. Everything happens for a reason. Live and Learn, and if you don't live you leave a lesson for others to learn.

i did hear that. what worries me is that maybe if he had left it in, he might not have died. you hear stories about people getting stabbed in the heart and lungs and not removing the stake until it is done in surgery. sometimes, the worst thing to do is to remove it. it probably happened so fast that he pulled it out before he realized what he had done. at that point, he probably bled to death very quickly. it's very sad.
