it depends on who you are and who you're trying to be really, for instance shy people pretending to be outgoing is a good thing because they get on better socially, however a guy who is really a wimp pretending to be a hard man is bad because he will get his head kicked in so you know it all depends.

I don't know if it's healthy, but if it involves using your imagination to some degree, I don't see how it could be all that bad. Sometimes I go downtown and pretend to be a lost French tourist, speaking broken English. It's not really to be anyone else that I enjoy about it, it's more of an experiment to find out how much people are willing to help, even through a language barrier. It's suprising how many people run away from what they don't understand.
But, like I said, if this is a way for you to use your imagination, then go for it, as long as no one gets hurt.

people do it all the time. all most every one especially women. what do u think make-up is if not a mask. actors are a very unstable group . that is not all. why do u think the would is such a screwed up place to live in. u will have to decide whether it is healthy for u. alot of times a person has no choice. if u know where to draw the line then no there is nothing wrong. but finding that line is very difficult to maintain. & luck has nothing to do w/it.

hi
no one is perfect , we have some points that weak ,it could be from your experiences or personallity or living asmosphere and those could be big problems to your goals and even your life.so they have to pretend to be someone els untill they belive in it that mean they can do it too and start to belive in themself.

is it healthy? i think it depens on what way and how do you pretend to be? does it make you to be a better person? do you improve your self in a good way?

Generally speaking, the answer is no. It's an avoidance of accepting who you are, and/or of changing the real you to that which you wish you were. Thus the bigger question would be, "What is it you do not like about yourself, enough to want to be someone else?"

If people like you for who you pretend to be, chances are they will not like you for who you really are, and eventually your true self will directly or indirectly come out. It would be far better to simply be who you truly are, learn to like yourself for it or change, and attract those people who like you for who you are.

Depends on how far you go. If you're changing your name and SSN and you really start to believe you're the other person, then heck no it's not healthy.

On the other hand, it's fine for things like role-playing.
