I'm sitting here mulling over the state of the world, war, famine, poverty, the fragility of the earth, and my own mortality. Meanwhile I'm reading people's trivial questions about stretchmarks, celebs, shopping and boyfriends, which all seem pointless. Anyone out there want to express some proper anxiety???

Okay...which set of questions is more meaningful: 1) How do I get rid of stretchmarks, who's hot, and what's the best new hairdo? Or, 2) how far is infinity, what is God, and why are we here?

Sometimes, empathy and a little worry about the world is a healthy thing. It helps keeps things in perspective and reminds us about what's really important.

But look outward too much and we start to ignore the things we can control and the things we can do to help other on a smaller level. Sometimes, when you look outward at problems, you miss the person who needs a hand to hold or a hot meal to share right next to you.

Talking about trivial matters helps keep the spirit up, and engages our flights of fancy so that, when confronted by the weight of reality, we can feel prepared to deal with the emotional burdens that are placed on us.

As long as someone understands the seriousness of the state of the world, don't begrudge them the need to talk about football or celebrities or books. And if they don't understand, then they've just got their head in the sand. There's not much you can do, then, I'm sorry to say.

isn't anxiety another trivial matter? it is more mundane, unnecessary and drain on energy than the trivial questions about shopping, etc. the more meaningful questions would be...? make a guess!

AArrrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!........

Now with that outta way,....i'll proceed. Existenstial angst or dukkha in buddhist thought is the first of the noble truth. It is to be overcomed ......not revelled in.
We can all be addicted to misery ......and i understand that.
