I'm confused between horizontal and vertical...

horizontal is across, like the horizon, and vertical is up down direction.

hold arms out- horizontal line
stand up tall- vertical line....

if you know what horizon means...
like when you are looking out at land and see a line in the distance where the land meets the sky that is the horizon.
which is why a line that goes like that (left to right) is called
horizontal.
vertical is the other way, a line that goes up and down.

amazingly vertical and horizontal are perpendicular to each other.

Modern TV sets just don't teach this anymore. No more horizontal and vertical hold buttons. Those were valueable learning tools.

PS - Think Horizon in the word "horizontal"...the sun rising and setting on the horizon.
