Theoretically, yes. As creation does not beget higher understanding (despite what some other posters have said) it is possible for man to outdo god. We were beget by our ancestors, were we not? And some of us are certainly more intelligent than some of them. Why, then, is it unfathomable for man to outshine god?

Take, for instance, small pox. God didn't cure small pox, he seems to have let it ravage mankind for eons. Man cured small pox, using his own ingeniuity and insight.

Furthermore, if god is perfect, he requires no ingenuity. Take, as an example, flight. If god desired to fly, he'd simply lift himself up and fly wherever he wanted. No ingenuity involved. But man? When he wanted to fly, it took years and years of struggle, genius, perspiration, and inspiration. Where is the greater intelligence, one who easily flies, or one who taxes his brains for an answer for years before achieving?

So yes, human beings can be more powerful than god in certain areas.

Computers are not more intelligent. But they can process more data more quickly. What powers humans possess vs. God is not an analagous question. By definition, God is the Supreme being...ergo, no mortal can be more powerful. It's like asking, what's outside the Universe. By definition, Universe covers it all. Consider the question, which has the greater dimension: Eternity or infinity? Meaningless question...One is time, the other is space. They don't equate. Humans and God are much the same way.

First of all computers are not smarter than people if they were they would have invented man :P About God; the bible says that the man was built by the image of the creator. This means that a human has the ability to be as powerful as God hence there are Saints nevertheless human beings cannot be more powerful than God. It is not afterall a competition.

If the creation can't be more powerful than the creator, then humans could be more powerful than God, because it's possible that God is simply a form that humans created to explain the infinite: the ideas that we simply can't comprehend without giving them a face.

If you talk about God as he's defined by the monotheists, of course no - you can't be more powerful than the Almighty. If you talk about God from a buddhist perspective, of course yes, if you are an enlightened human being, you're infinitely more powerful than the deluded gods, still prisoners in Samsara.

I think humans can be more powerful than God in some ways because we ultimately decide what happens on Earth and in space and time because of free will.

Free will gives us the chance to choose what we want, do what we want, and live as we want without the pull of God's will. However, this is in regard to Earthly matters, which is minuscule compared to what is ultimately exacerbated in our complete human-make-up.

In the end, God is far more powerful than us because of the simple fact we cannot even begin to fathom the power and capabilities of God. How can we be more powerful than something we can't even fully explain? So, yes we can be more powerful than God in our actions, but our-mind capacity can't even come close to the power of God. Which in my opinion, is far more important than actions.

you can not ask this question without already affirming God's existence.

And once you have done that, you have confirmed that God does not exist.

So...yes...and...no!

Mystery dwells in the name of God. God is a myth, God is all powerful, God is subserviant, and God is the creator. Our language is too flawed to effectively communicate, especially about God.

Humans created computers to be perfect. But they're not perfect because they were created by imperfect beings. You can only be as smart as you're created to be. God may have created us to create certain things. Not everyone could've created velcroe or lightbulbs or ice-cream. True, nothings perfect, but for God to have been able to create us, how could we be more ppowerful? I don't see anyone around here creating strange species out of thin air.

No, we cannot possibly be better than God, as he created us. I know it sounds like that when we compare humans to computers, but in reality, it is not like that.

And, yes, in a few aspects, computers are better than humans
