twinkletoes was hilarious (what about bring a guy back to hotel?); heavenly was naive (prostitution illegal in Vietnam); todd and decatsdead were sarcastic; mosquitojamme was very naive (vietnam being conservative); acid toungue was not entirely correct (can bring girls into hotel freely.) And Ong Jon was most accurate: this was most noticeable in 5-star hotels, e.g. Sheraton Saigon or Caravelle. They would like to restrict the practice of prostitution in the hotels and maintain some order there by asking guests or visitors to register, especially for overnight stays. I have stayed there and have no problem getting my (real) friends, girls or boys, to visit my room, after I have informed them about such visits. For overnight visits, you would have to pay for the guests' stay. In all cases, police is rarely involved, as all matters would be taken care of by the hotels' security.

If your "girls" are afraid of the police, my hunch is that they have had history before and might not want to encounter further embarrassments during registration. In these cases, I guess you might know the wrong girls :-).

I am dating a girl from Vietnam and she tells me that it is very strict there. She had never even kissed a guy there. I guess their culture is strict against sex before marriage and a lot of girls there don't date. They pick one man and stay with him for life. I was makeing out with my girl friend outside and she said that is something that they don't do in Vietnam.
If you think back to the 50's here in USA that is kinda where that country's culture is now.

ok... heres the score... anyone staying in your room anywhwere in vietnam, in a hotel or private house after 11pm must register with their ID card either at the hotel reception or with the police. some hotels may ask for a supplementry charge, but apart from that.... take who u like home....

If u want to go back your hotel room with a girl, you must have marriage certificate...
In Vietnam, ppl think so badly if you have sex before marriage.

you are not aloud to bring an unpaid guest in any hotel room..its not "your" room.. it belongs to the hotel and they [ almost all hotels over the world] dont want "strangers", "unregistered guests",passed the lobby.. for obvious reasons..if you register & pay for your guest..there will be no problem!
