Yes, drain out the old fuel.

An oil change wouldn't hurt.

A new spark plug wouldn't hurt either.

Also, a new oil filter, as the old one is probably rotted out due to old age. It doesn't cost too much to have it checked out, or to replace all the "old" parts.

Good luck. If you get stuck, we're here.

Is it a gas mower or electric?
1. Clean the spark plug(s).
2. Drain the gas tank and fill it with fresh gas (if applicable). Same goes for oil.
3. Make sure the blade is bolted securely onto the mount and that it's sharp.

The only thing I would add to previous suggestions would be to remove the spark plug and spray some light oil into the cylinder, then turn the engine over with the plug still removed to assure upper cylinder lubrication prior to starting. If you get it started with fresh gas then spray some carb cleaner in the intake to help remove any sediment built up from the old evaporated gas

Empty out and replace the oil and gasoline. (You can recycle it at a local gas station.)

Replace the air filter (they get clogged very quickly in lawn mowers).

If it doesn't start, you probably need a tune-up, which mostly involves taking out the spark plug and putting in a new one.

Completely service the motor. Drain oil and replace with clean Fresh Oil................If tank had gasoline in it for the last 2 years you will need to refurbish the tank and carb, if tank is clean and dry just add Fresh Gasoline, Sharpen the blade. and go for it!!

I would drain out any left over gas and oil then refill it. Just in case there is any moisture build up or rust.

IF it was stored WITH gas in it...... expect to have to clean the gastank out, and rebuild the carb (carb cleaner dip, carb kit and compressed air to blow the holes out)

Two years? replace the gas lines!!, replace the air filter if it looks dirty, course change the oil.....
