Hi I am 30 years old and have had a 20 day cycle since I was 11 and it lasts 5 days, I was wondering if that is considered irregular and if it would affect me in conceiving? Thanks

20 days cycle is not abnormal...when its regular in duration with fixed 5/20 ratio since last 19 years...rather absolutely normal.
said normal range for menses is INTERVAL-- 21day-35days cycle, and DURATION OF BLEEDING-2days-7days... but regularity and ammount of flow matters.

As popular MISCONCEPT ovulation accurs at day 14 is WRONG ... it is 14 days prior to appearance of menses.

find out if ovulation happeneing with sonography scan (with regular cycles high possibility that it's happening)

then duration/interval of menses will not affect fertility if that is the only factor!!

good luck

Do you mean you bleed for 5 days in every 20? Or the length of time from the end of your last period to the start of your next one is 20 days?
Cycle length is counted from the first day of one period to the first day of the next period.
If you're bleeding for 5 days in every 20, then you should probably see a doctor. It's not considered an irregular cycle, but bleeding so often could leave you quite anaemic, and you could go on the pill or something to lengthen the time between bleeds.
Generally, you ovulate 14 days before the first day of your period. So, if you knew your period was due on the 30th of this month, you'd be ovulating around the 16th, so you'd be most fertile between the 14th and the 18th.

It's a bit unusual as most women have a menstrual cycle every 25-27 days. But since it's been the norm for you for 20 years, then it's not irregular for your body.

Odd, but not completely unheard of. As long as you're consistent (not 20 days one month 34 the next and 46 the next) then you should be able to conceive without much trouble. The 28-day cycle is a rule of thumb - everyone is different.

If you have any doubts at all, talk to your doc the next time you're in for a check-up.

If you always cycle on a 20 day cycle than it is not irregular, however i would suggest talking to your doctor. i had a 24 day cycle for 25 years ... and a 26 day cycle the last couple of years. I would guess that the only way that it would affect conception is that with the shortened cycle, your ovulation and fertile days are shorter. It may be hard to catch that timing such that the sperm has time to travel up the fallopian tubes, the embryo has time to finish travelling down and get embedded before your body cycles out of that receptive mode.

Hey there! Its a little irregular but not bad and I am super proud of your keeping track! Yay for you. You usually ovulate at day 14 counting from the first day of your cycle, since yours are ranging by 4 days, then WHEN you eventually want to ttc, then you will just have a bigger time frame to baby dance around, but hey too much nookie never killed anyone! Lol....A 25 day cycle shaves 3 to five days off of the 14 day window, so you could have ovulated sooner. The good news is you got your period now, so today is the day to begin, if you want otherwise. when you ttc you can use a kit or just chart and do your temperature, I think your fine. I hope this helps, Let me know if your confused. xoxo Love April

You sound perfect. I have a 21 day cycle when I'm not on birth control and it's been that way ever since I was 12.

it is not irregular if it's consistent. it doesn't affect conception because ovulation occurs on a similar cycle as menses. ovulation usually occurs at the midpoint between your 20 day cycle and that is the time when your ovary releases the egg so that sperm can make it's penetration.
