I think they use every opportunity they get to try and rule by fear. What's one of the most successful control tactics?? Fear. Attack Iraq because they have WMD's ready to use against us? Fear. If you vote a certain way you're aiding terror? Fear. I think people are really starting to see through it. And no I don't think it's legitimate for anyone to use 9/11 for political reasons but it's sure been done.

Maybe. Know one really knows why Bush is the way he is. I think it is illiegitimate, yes. You shouldn't frighten people for you personal gain, however, sometimes, your own personal gain is tied into other people's personal gains, and scaring people can help both you and the people you are scaring, so it's a complicated question and we can't know Bush well enough, just from watching him on TV, to know if he is scaring people for his gain or for the benefit of everyone.

Legitimate? It's very effective. In fact, it's the nature of politics.

Find an emotional trigger issue, use that to manipulate the voters, and get what you want by fear and intimidation. That's politics.

if you are scared because 9/11 happened, why is it bush's fault? it is not right to use victims for political reasons, but to mention the only terrorist attack on u.s. soil in the last ten years to talk about national security is simply mentioning a security issue.
