Get a lawyer. Respond to the suit and attempt to defend it because if you don't, she'll get a default judgement against her.

You don't just show up on the day and talk to the judge. You must respond to the suit by the date in the summons if you want your day in court.

The worst that can happen is they get a judgment against her. If she doesn't owe the money or if she has a defense to the suit, then defend the suit either pro se or hire an attorney. They will try to collect on the judgment, but if she has no bank accounts, they will have a hard time collecting. Also, there is the possibility of discharging the debt through bankruptcy.

First off change your life, bye bye credit cards all are now cut up. All money used will be cash and you have a weekly budget for that, put the money in a jar for each need. Clothe shopping is cut out, things like buying dvds and eating out gone. all extra you save goes toward the debt, tell the judge ur plan

If the debt is really bad, then bankruptcy might be an option. That'll help keep creditors from bugging you. Go see a lawyer(as was already suggested). A lot of lawyers have free consultations.
